National Laundry and Dyeing Professional Skills Competition Successfully Held

The First National Commercial Service Industry Skills Competition in Laundry and Dyeing was hosted by the China General Chamber of Commerce, organized by the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce and the China General Chamber of Commerce Vocational Skills Appraisal Center, and co-organized by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association and other units. It is a grand event showcasing the development trends of the laundry and dyeing industry and the knowledge and skill levels of workers. The competition was held on August 26, 2010, at the Shanghai World Trade Mall Exhibition Hall, featuring three competition events: the "Keyipi Cup" Leather Bag Care Skills Competition, the "Kabo Cup" Leather Shoe Care Skills Competition, and the "Zhengzhang Cup" Front Desk Service Knowledge Competition. A total of 60 qualified contestants from 12 regions across the country participated.
The Leather Bag Care Skills Competition required contestants to care for a women's bag made of pink leather and light brown canvas within 40 minutes. Contestants had to remove coffee stains from the canvas and also care for and polish the worn pink leather. The competition was very time-pressured. Ultimately, Tao Guoqi from Shanghai Kabo Laundry Co., Ltd., recommended by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, Tang Guiqiang from Leather Craftsman Family, recommended by the Dalian Laundry and Dyeing Association, and Li Xingbo from Wuji Smelly Cobbler, recommended by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, won first, second, and third places respectively.
The Leather Shoe Care Skills Competition required contestants to complete the care of a white patchwork travel shoe within 40 minutes. Contestants had to clean the shoes thoroughly, sterilize them, perform finishing, packaging, and other arrangements. After fierce competition, Du Wenmin from Beijing Hanhwang Weiye Leather Cleaning and Maintenance Chain Service Co., Ltd., recommended by the Beijing Hanhwang Weiye Leather Cleaning and Maintenance Chain Service Co., Ltd., Li Bin from Shanghai Luhuan Laundry Co., Ltd., recommended by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, and Kuang Yu from Shanghai Liangying Enterprise Management Co., Ltd., recommended by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, won first, second, and third places respectively.
The Front Desk Service Knowledge Competition was conducted in a quiz format, assessing contestants on professional ethics, front desk service, textile fiber fabrics, washing, chemicals, washing machinery, leather, ironing, and other knowledge areas. The competition was exciting with contestants showing their skills. Ultimately, Huang Xinghong from Hangzhou Kaiyuan Zhijiang Cleaning Chain Co., Ltd., recommended by the Hangzhou Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, Wu Yong from Shanghai Luhuan Laundry Co., Ltd., recommended by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, and Zhang Haiqing from Shanghai Zhengzhang Industrial Co., Ltd., recommended by the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, stood out among 24 contestants and won the top three places.
The Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, Hangzhou Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, Beijing Hanhwang Weiye Leather Cleaning and Maintenance Chain Service Co., Ltd., Qingdao Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, Nanjing Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, Beijing Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, Dalian Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Laundry Industry Association received the Excellent Organization Award for this competition.
This competition received strong support from higher-level leaders and relevant units. Vice President Wang Qinhua, Deputy Party Secretary An Huimin, Deputy Secretary-General and Laundry Committee Director Wang Shuyuan of the China General Chamber of Commerce successively attended the competition site and award ceremony. Shanghai Luhuan Laundry Co., Ltd., Shanghai Kabo Laundry Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Zhengzhang Industrial Co., Ltd. sponsored the three competition events respectively. Beijing Hanhwang Weiye Leather Maintenance Chain Service Co., Ltd., Beijing Jiebao—Italian Leather Chemical Specialty Store, Shanghai Qiaoliya Laundry Equipment Co., Ltd., Beijing Funait Laundry Service Co., Ltd., Shanghai Xiangwang Laundry Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Lanxi Arsha Washing Equipment Co., Ltd., Shanghai Shengguang Washing Machinery Group Co., Ltd., and other units also supported the competition in various forms.
The organizer stated that a prominent feature of this competition was innovation. First, newer service projects were selected when setting competition topics, such as patchwork women's bag care and travel shoe care. Second, the competition model was innovative, emphasizing industry knowledge popularization and entertainment value. The successful hosting of this competition has explored some new experiences for organizing industry competitions and laid a good foundation for next year's "7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition."
