With the continuous improvement of people's living standards, clothing consumption has also surged dramatically. Coupled with the fast-paced work and life, the laundry market has developed rapidly in recent years. Relevant data shows that in China, the current laundry consumption amount exceeds 20 billion RMB. In the future, with the proposal of China's 12th Five-Year Plan, it will once again drive rapid social and economic development and improve people's living standards. The laundry industry will remain one of the fastest-growing emerging sunrise industries in the service sector for a long time to come.
However, in stark contrast to the rapid market development is the irregularity of the laundry industry. On one hand, in terms of laundry processes, except for a few well-known brands that have large-scale laundry factories and advanced equipment, most laundry shops still use traditional laundry methods, resulting in low production efficiency and difficulty in quality control. On the other hand, driven by short-term interests, many laundry shops still use chemical products harmful to the human body. Poor working environments and chemical residues on clothes pose great potential risks to the physical and mental health of employees and consumers. Moreover, most domestic laundry shops are still stuck in the traditional stage of high energy and water consumption, and excessive manual involvement in the laundry process makes laundry safety difficult to guarantee, which runs counter to the current mainstream of environmental protection and low carbon.
Although the laundry market in major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou is expanding rapidly and the number of laundry shops continues to grow, the concepts of "professionalized and automated laundry" and "central laundry factories" have not yet become widespread. The ideas of environmentally friendly, energy-saving, and healthy laundry still need to be strengthened. For industry elites who are determined to deeply cultivate the laundry business, isn't this precisely a business development space with huge potential?
Looking at the development history of advanced countries and regions, I deeply believe that when laundry operators face how to upgrade and transform their own business operations, they should focus on improving the following four aspects: systematic corporate image, automated production processes, specialized technical craftsmanship, and computerized business management. For operators who already have a certain scale of business at this stage, they can also consider developing towards an intensive production model, namely the operation mode of an automated central laundry factory.
A brief summary of the operational advantages of automated central laundry factories is as follows:
1. Stable personnel: easy employee training, quick onboarding, no longer long-term reliance on skilled workers.
Automated equipment is simple to operate and easy to master; as long as one can wear clothes, one can iron clothes. For example, automated equipment such as pants presses, mannequin machines, and tunnel machines can be operated by any personnel within one day. After 2-3 days of familiarization, they can become ironing experts in the industry, with ironing quality unmatched by veteran manual ironers.
2. High efficiency: environmentally friendly, energy-saving, in line with national development policies.
The domestic laundry industry generally follows the traditional front-shop, back-factory business model, still at a small scale, fragmented operation, and low efficiency. It not only consumes high amounts of water and energy and has difficulty controlling laundry quality, but also causes serious environmental impacts on urban areas due to emissions of waste gas and wastewater. The laundry industry adopts the "central factory" model, introducing automated laundry production lines to complete the entire process from washing to ironing, sorting, and conveying, greatly improving laundry efficiency. It also strengthens centralized treatment of sewage and waste gas, reducing energy consumption, becoming the mainstream development model of laundry industries in advanced countries worldwide. The United States, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan have mostly established laundry factories, with laundry shops transformed into collection and delivery points. According to 2010 industry statistics in Japan, there are currently 140,000 laundry shops nationwide, of which 100,000 are collection points, and there are more than 2,000 large central laundry factories (excluding large-scale laundry plants for hotels and hospitals).
3. Superior quality: uniform and naturally perfect quality is the hallmark of automation.
Quality is the unchanging rule for enterprise survival. Improving quality brings competitiveness, influence, and upgrades in grade and image to the enterprise. The following briefly introduces the functions and effects of different advanced ironing equipment:
(1) Using shirt machines: ironing quality standards are uniform with a three-dimensional effect, symmetrical sleeve lines, a crisp body, one-time forming without manual ironing marks. The ironing quality is a standard that no manual ironer can achieve.
(2) Using mannequin machines: using a human body model, steam blows from inside out to shape the garment integrally, restoring the natural three-dimensional appearance of the clothes without manual ironing creases or shiny glare.
(3) Using pants blowing machines: using waistband molds, steam blows from inside out to shape the waistband in one go, achieving a full, smooth, and three-dimensional perfect effect without creases or shiny glare.
(4) Using universal pressing machines: using molds heated from above and below with steam to evenly press pants legs, shaping both legs at once. The pant lines are smooth and crisp, which manual ironing cannot replace.
(5) Using universal pointed blowing machines: using pointed molds that fit human body curves to blow steam and hot air, instantly achieving a natural and smooth ironing effect. Various styles of clothing can be blown and ironed freely without easily producing shiny glare.
(6) Using tunnel shaping machines: using steam and wind inside the tunnel to evenly blow and shape clothes, quickly achieving a natural, smooth, and three-dimensional ironing effect. Wool, felt, and velvet clothes almost do not need further ironing after blowing, and other types of clothes only need simple local touch-ups to achieve perfect results.
This is the ironing effect of industrial equipment, incomparable to traditional flat ironing boards and suction-blowing ironing boards or manual irons. "To do a good job, one must first sharpen one's tools." Using high-efficiency automated washing and ironing equipment will bring laundry operators the competitive advantages of stable personnel, high efficiency, and superior quality. High quality creates excellent brands, and only excellent brands can create long-lasting and sustainable business benefits. I sincerely hope that the elites of China's laundry industry can jointly build many environmentally friendly, energy-saving, healthy, efficient, and high-quality international national laundry brands.
