On July 1, 2011, the Ministry of Commerce held a symposium on associations related to the life service industry. Wang Shuyuan, Director of the Laundry and Dyeing Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce, Pan Wei, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General, and responsible comrades from nine other national associations attended the meeting. Deputy Director Wan Lianpo of the Department of Service Trade and Commercial Service Industry and related leaders also participated.
At the meeting, Deputy Director Wan Lianpo introduced the adjustment of the Ministry of Commerce's management functions for the life service industry and put forward new requirements for the service industry after the departmental adjustment. That is, on the basis of continuing to provide good service, gradually complete the integration of domestic and foreign trade development, and achieve the long-term goal of "going global." Then, the meeting carefully listened to the specific work situations of various associations, the problems encountered in industry management, and measures and suggestions on how to further strengthen association work and play the role of associations.
Wang Shuyuan, Director of the Laundry and Dyeing Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce, briefly introduced the overall situation of the laundry and dyeing industry and the work ideas of the committee. Secretary-General Pan Wei gave a detailed introduction on the development status of the laundry and dyeing industry, standard formulation, and statistical work. Pan Wei said that after more than 10 years of rapid development, China's laundry and dyeing enterprises have initially formed a group of large-scale chain enterprises, and it is expected that in the future they will develop towards large central factory models and localized brand models. Some laundry machinery manufacturing enterprises have successfully exported equipment abroad, stepping out of the country. To further accelerate the construction of industry standards and promote the construction of China's laundry and dyeing industry standard system, the committee has drafted and completed the formulation of two standards: "Quality Requirements for Laundry and Dyeing Industry" and "Service Operation Specifications for Laundry and Dyeing Industry." Ten other standards, including "Terminology of Laundry and Dyeing Industry," have also been approved by the Ministry of Commerce and will be completed in the current and next year respectively. To promote information and technology exchange in the industry, the committee provides services through organizing the China Laundry and Dyeing Industry Exhibition, national vocational skills competitions in the laundry and dyeing industry, and founding publicity media such as China Laundry Network and China Laundry Journal. In January this year, it also released the "China Laundry and Dyeing Industry Price Information Survey" and will continue to deepen information statistics work.
Pan Wei also pointed out that although laundry and dyeing enterprises belong to a sunrise industry in China, during the development process, costs such as water, electricity, steam, personnel, and rent continue to rise, equipment gradually ages and needs replacement, and the need for capital introduction for scale development are issues facing laundry and dyeing enterprises. These remain key factors affecting industry development. In cultivating large-scale enterprises and establishing an industry standard system, strong support from the Ministry of Commerce is still needed.
