It is reported that Guangdong Tiantian Laundry and Washing Chain Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tiantian Laundry"), which won the 2014 "National Well-known Brand in the Laundry Industry", launched the "Caring for Empty Nest Elderly, Washing for Love Every Day" event last month and recruited volunteers. Starting from September 2, it will officially provide free laundry services for the elderly.
The author learned from Tiantian Laundry that the reason for choosing early September to start the free laundry service for the elderly, spanning the Mid-Autumn Festival for a month, is mainly to carry out filial piety activities during the festival period, calling on the whole society to pay attention to the elderly and prioritize filial piety and care for the elderly.
According to the company's staff, the free laundry service for the elderly is provided at 10 Tiantian Laundry chain stores located at Guangzhou Metro stations including Gongyuanqian, Dongshankou, Tiyu West, Zhujiang New Town, Kecun, Jiangnanxi, Lingyuan West, Changshou, Haizhu Square, and Sanyuanli. Elderly people aged 65 and above with valid ID can enjoy this free laundry service. Each elderly person is limited to washing two pieces of clothing for free at the Guangzhou Metro event. Each participating Tiantian Laundry store accepts up to 10 elderly customers per day for this free laundry service. The accepted clothes are limited to cotton and linen fibers, wool fibers, and polyester synthetic fabrics, including suits, trousers, sweaters, wool pants, cotton jackets, cotton pants, casual clothes, T-shirts, jackets, etc. Leather, fur, clothes with leather or fur belts, and silk clothes are not included in this free laundry service.
In addition, Tiantian Laundry has designated September 2 to October 1 as the annual free laundry month for the elderly. Besides providing free laundry services at the 10 Guangzhou Metro chain stores mentioned above, it also organizes dedicated service personnel and volunteers to visit communities in Tianhe, Yuexiu, Liwan, Haizhu, and Baiyun districts of Guangzhou to pick up and deliver laundry for elderly people with mobility difficulties. This community laundry pick-up and delivery service is jointly organized by Yangcheng Evening News, Guangzhou Volunteer Federation, and Tiantian Laundry, and is strongly supported by Guangzhou Metro Company at the metro station service points. It is expected to clean over ten thousand pieces of clothing free of charge for eligible elderly people.
