Today, Zhang Rongyao, chairman of the established laundry chain "Rongchang," revealed to 36Kr that Rongchang's O2O laundry service "eDaiXi" has received an investment of 20 million RMB from Tencent. The product is currently valued at about 200 million RMB. This is the first financing for the eDaiXi service since its launch in November 2013.
eDaiXi is an O2O laundry service product developed by Rongchang based on the WeChat platform. Compared with Rongchang's traditional laundry services, eDaiXi not only simplifies the entire laundry process of delivering and picking up clothes but also innovatively introduces a "99 yuan per bag pricing model," where users put the clothes to be washed into a customized laundry bag, schedule a pickup time, and then staff will pick up the clothes and return the cleaned clothes within 72 hours.
It is precisely because eDaiXi disrupts the traditional laundry model that Tencent showed strong interest once the product form was initially established. Zhang Rongyao said, "At that time, Tencent had even decided to cooperate with us without having seen the business plan." As support, Tencent sent a WeChat team to work with the eDaiXi team to complete the product design and launch. A few months later, Tencent invested in eDaiXi.
As for Rongchang, Zhang Rongyao also talked about why they chose to accept investment from Tencent. On one hand, he believes that there are not many investment companies that truly understand the O2O model, while large internet companies like BAT have more advantages. On the other hand, internet companies have a stronger awareness of products and services; they focus on products and services, not just investment returns.
