● Laundry shops dare not accept such clothes

A staff member at a dry cleaning shop on Hongqi Road said, "Generally, we clean clothes according to the customer's requirements. If the customer has no clear instructions, we follow the washing standards on the clothes. For clothes that cannot be washed with water or dry cleaned, we usually don't dare to accept them because if problems occur, it is hard to resolve."
A laundry shop on Dingzigu Third Road looks quite large. The staff told reporters, "We have been open for several years and often encounter clothes labeled as 'cannot be dry cleaned or washed with water.' Sometimes nearly 10 such clothes are brought in a day." The staff said that clothes like Ms. Li's polyester outfit can be washed at home with water, so there is no need to send them to a laundry for dry cleaning, and laundry shops also refuse to accept such clothes. "Of course, some clothes have more complex fabrics, using blended materials during production. According to the owner of a local foreign trade garment processing factory, this is actually a way for manufacturers to avoid risks: "Not all clothes labeled as 'do not wash with water' or 'do not dry clean' really cannot be washed, but by labeling them this way, they don't have to take responsibility if problems occur." The owner explained that some big brand clothes are expensive, and consumers have higher demands. Some clothes inevitably have minor issues after cleaning. When picky consumers request returns or exchanges, having such labels allows merchants to avoid significant responsibility.
