On February 20th, the on-site acceptance test of the prototype of the tunnel continuous large-scale washing machine unit (commonly known as "Laundry Dragon"), independently developed and produced by Shanghai Weishi Machinery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Weishi Company), was held at Ningbo Ruili Laundry Co., Ltd. Thirteen industry experts from the light industry machinery sector conducted a comprehensive inspection of the product and unanimously agreed that the overall technology reached the advanced level of similar international products and approved the acceptance.
In 2010, to implement the spirit of the "National Medium- and Long-Term Science and Technology Development Plan Outline (2006-2020)" and the State Council's "Light Industry Adjustment and Revitalization Plan" and other documents, the Ministry of Science and Technology established the National Science and Technology Support Program's key project "Development of Tunnel Continuous Large-Scale Washing Machine Units and High-Efficiency Sewing Equipment." Among them, the "Research and Development of Tunnel Continuous Large-Scale Washing Machine Units" (2011BAF12B01) was undertaken by Weishi Company.
After three years of unremitting efforts, Weishi Company completed the research and development task of the tunnel continuous large-scale washing machine unit. The main technical and economic indicators met the requirements specified in the project task book: the prototype's washing capacity for laundry was 1300 kilograms per hour (the project required "more than 1200 kilograms per hour"); water consumption was 6.85 kilograms of water per kilogram of laundry (the project required "less than 8 kilograms of water per kilogram of laundry"); compared with ordinary single machines, water saving was 72% (the project required "more than 60%"), and energy saving was 40% (the project required "more than 30%").
Weishi Company achieved multiple technical breakthroughs in the development of this project: (1) Using special machine tools to realize automatic welding of the inner drum; (2) Medium-pressure hydraulic system to ensure constant total pressure while improving the reliability of the press; (3) Automatic balanced air intake heating system for the inner and outer air ducts of the dryer drum, reducing energy consumption by more than 30%; (4) Hanging bag conveyor to realize classification and temporary storage of laundry before washing, saving laundry stacking space and improving operator flexibility; (5) Added a metal detection and treatment system, most suitable for washing hospital laundry, avoiding damage to the press rubber bladder and unit caused by metal embedded in the laundry; (6) Established dual networks between single-machine programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interfaces to improve equipment reliability; computer-aided control with backend data management functions; (7) Dryer lint automatic collection system, reducing manual collection labor intensity.
Mr. Yuan Mingdong, General Manager of Ningbo Ruili, gave high praise to Weishi's first tunnel continuous large-scale washing machine unit. He said that since the machine entered trial operation at Ruili in January 2014, it has operated well in all aspects with no obvious faults, showing significant advantages in energy saving, water saving, and labor saving. During the trial operation, the machine runs 5 hours a day, washing nearly 34 tons of hospital laundry per week with only 2 workers, consuming 1503 kWh of electricity, 233 cubic meters of water, and 29.5 tons of steam. Previously, washing the same amount of hospital laundry with single machines consumed 2000 kWh of electricity, 830 cubic meters of water, and 140,000 kilograms of steam, requiring 4 laundry workers. Meanwhile, the laundry loss rate was controlled below 0.1%, cleanliness met requirements, and the laundry's pH was kept within safe limits. At the same site, both Shanghai Weishi and Jiansen's two Laundry Dragons operated simultaneously, realizing the dream of Chinese products competing alongside world advanced products. Now Chinese people can truly achieve the dream of obtaining the same functions at lower costs, which is the best embodiment of the Chinese Dream.
