Notice on Emphasizing Enterprise Safety Production
To all member units:
At 5:30 pm on April 12, a steam ironing machine explosion occurred at the laundry factory of Yafeng Washing Industry Company in the residential area of Yangluo Power Plant, Xinzhou, Wuhan City, resulting in 3 deaths, 3 serious injuries, and 5 minor injuries. The equipment was a two-roll ironing machine with a diameter of 1 meter produced by "Taizhou Century Peak Electromechanical Equipment Co., Ltd.". It is understood that the laundry factory building covers an area of more than 300 square meters and is a one-story tile house structure. The violent explosion caused the entire roof of the factory building to be blown off, exposing wooden supports and tiles. The interior of the factory was in disarray, with clothes, towels, rubble, metal supports, or parts scattered everywhere. The police have sealed off the scene.
Last year, an ironing machine explosion occurred at the Tiantian Laundry Center in Quanfuzhen, Central District, Leshan City, causing multiple injuries. Nearly 1,000 square meters of the factory building were destroyed.
Our city also experienced an ironing machine explosion last year, resulting in 3 deaths and multiple injuries.
All these accidents were caused by ironing machines. Ironing machines are high-pressure vessels widely used in laundry enterprises. The association leadership attaches great importance to enterprise safety production issues. Therefore, it requires all member enterprises to assign fixed personnel to key positions and ensure they hold certificates to operate. Steam pressure must be used within the prescribed range, and equipment must not operate with faults. It is necessary to carefully check whether important safety components such as safety valves are installed. More attention should be paid to whether inferior machines are used.
The association leadership emphasizes that this is the season of transition and the arrival of the May Day holiday, which will bring a significant increase in the washing volume of customer clothes and linens. Member enterprises are required to complete washing tasks while ensuring safe production. The association suggests that in response to these accidents, enterprises should organize relevant personnel for safety training and self-inspection to check for any violations or irregularities. Enterprises should take this opportunity to organize forces to carry out self-inspection and self-examination activities to thoroughly prevent the recurrence of accidents.
The painful lessons warn us that safety production is more important than Mount Tai.
