Laundry damages LV bag worth ten thousand yuan, consumer compensated 6000 yuan

An LV handbag worth 12,000 yuan was taken to a laundry for cleaning, after which the handbag became deformed and the color was faded and damaged, making it irreparable. However, the merchant only compensated 2,000 yuan. Recently, the High-tech Zone Consumer Council mediated this high-end product consumption dispute, and the laundry compensated consumer Ms. Liu 6,000 yuan.
A relevant person in charge of the High-tech Zone Consumer Council introduced that recently, consumer Ms. Liu came to the department with a shopping receipt to complain, stating that in November last year, she sent an LV handbag worth over ten thousand yuan to a certain laundry for cleaning. The dry cleaner cleaned it according to the handbag's label, resulting in deformation and color fading. The dry cleaner admitted it was caused by technical reasons and promised to return it to the headquarters for processing. But when Ms. Liu picked up the bag the second time, she found it was not fully repaired. The dry cleaner's person in charge offered to compensate Ms. Liu 2,000 yuan. Since both parties did not reach an agreement on the compensation amount, there was no result. Ms. Liu then filed a complaint with the High-tech Zone Consumer Council. Subsequently, the council carefully examined the item, relevant documents, and details of the situation, and mediated according to the relevant provisions of the Consumer Rights Protection Law. Finally, the operator Mr. Li compensated consumer Ms. Liu 6,000 yuan.
The person in charge also stated that when citizens repair or maintain valuable items, it is best to choose large, reputable, and technically reliable professional dry cleaners for maintenance.
