On October 18, according to the unified deployment of the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee, the 12th Vocational Skills Competition for the "Laundry Worker" category was officially held. It was jointly organized by the Municipal Party Committee Organization Department, Propaganda Department, Economic and Information Technology Commission, Finance Bureau, Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Federation of Trade Unions, Communist Youth League Committee, and Women's Federation, with the Qingdao Laundry Industry Association as a co-organizer. More than 60 practitioners from the island city's laundry industry participated in this competition.

Under the guidance of relevant government departments, this competition was organized and prepared over half a year. It is the most authoritative major event in Qingdao's laundry industry, divided into two parts: a theoretical exam and practical operation. The practical operation includes three projects: ironing, stain removal, and front desk garment collection.
It is reported that those who pass both the theoretical knowledge and practical operation assessments in this competition will be recognized by the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau as having senior wage qualifications and will be issued a national Level 3 vocational qualification certificate. The top six contestants with outstanding overall results will receive honorary titles, cash rewards, and professional qualification recognition. Award-winning contestants who are not registered residents of the city and sign labor contracts with local employers can also directly apply for household registration. In addition, the first-place winner of the competition will be awarded the title of "Qingdao Laundry Worker Champion" and a prize of 10,000 yuan by the competition organizing committee.
Quan Limin, Secretary-General of the Qingdao Laundry Industry Association, told reporters that with the development of high-tech textile technology and the increased purchasing power for high-end clothing, consumers' requirements for washing technology have also increased year by year. Therefore, laundry industry practitioners must continuously learn and improve to meet market demands. The purpose of this competition is to stimulate practitioners' enthusiasm for learning through the competition format, provide opportunities and platforms for learning and communication, and achieve an improvement in technical skills.
