On March 20, 2013, the Department of Service Trade and Commercial Service Industry of the Ministry of Commerce held a symposium on life service industries. Director Zhou Liujun, Deputy Director Wang Huiying, Director Peng Kequan, and Researcher Liang Zhaoshan from the Department of Service Trade of the Ministry of Commerce, as well as the main leaders of eight life service industry associations including the China Commercial Federation and the Professional Committee of Laundry and Dyeing, attended the symposium.
At the meeting, the heads of the participating associations raised the main problems existing in the industry and put forward feasible policy suggestions to the leaders of the Department of Service Trade of the Ministry of Commerce. Director Wang Shuyuan of the Laundry and Dyeing Committee said in her speech: First, the tax burden is a significant common issue among the eight major service industries; a more reasonable and scientific tax system can reduce the living burden on the people. Second, equipment upgrading requires government support. The laundry and dyeing industry is currently at an important stage of transformation from traditional to modern business models. Upgrading outdated equipment and renewing backward chemicals are urgent problems to be solved at this stage. Since most enterprises in the laundry and dyeing industry are small and medium-sized private companies, the large funds required for equipment and chemical upgrades are a challenge for these enterprises. Therefore, government policy support is hoped for in this regard to ensure the healthy life of the people. Third, the quality of employees in the laundry and dyeing industry needs to be continuously improved. The industry has developed and grown over more than ten years, and the structure of employees has changed to some extent, with an overall improvement in quality. However, the quality of operators, who are the main force in the industry, still needs to be enhanced. The Laundry and Dyeing Committee has been committed to training in the industry for more than ten years, but the training work has always been operating at a loss. It is hoped that the government can provide some subsidies in this regard to ensure the sustainable and healthy development of the laundry and dyeing industry. Fourth, in the past year, the "Quality Service Activities" vigorously carried out by the Ministry of Commerce and chambers of commerce have solidly promoted the development of the laundry and dyeing industry. Here, it is hoped that the Ministry of Commerce will continue to promote this series of activities. Last year, the Laundry and Dyeing Committee also cooperated with superiors to carry out the 13th China Laundry and Dyeing Industry Exhibition and the China Laundry and Dyeing Industry Awards Ceremony and other pioneering and excellence series activities, which have been widely recognized in the industry. It is hoped that the Ministry of Commerce can give greater support to our exhibition, approve the 14th China International Laundry and Dyeing Industry Exhibition to be held in Beijing in 2013 as a key exhibition supported by the Ministry of Commerce, and play a greater role in the industry. Fifth, and also the biggest problem troubling the service industry, is that the industry needs truthful media reporting to promote healthy development. Therefore, it is hoped that the Ministry of Commerce, as a large platform, can better play its role, use the government website as a platform to correct public opinion, and make greater contributions to the development of the industry.
Director Wang Shuyuan's speech received high attention from the attending leaders.
Director Zhou Liujun proposed fifteen issues that industry associations should focus on and promote in his speech: policy research, classification and grading, talent cultivation, standard promotion, typical demonstration, conflict resolution, authoritative release, statistical monitoring, international exchange, public opinion guidance, platform services, resource integration, certification and evaluation, interest coordination, and planning coordination. He also requested the associations to conduct in-depth research on these aspects to keep abreast of the latest issues emerging in the business formats.
