When providing laundry services, the collector not only needs to properly receive the clothes but also fully communicate with consumers to guide them in choosing the correct washing method. After confirming the method, the clothes should be washed strictly according to the agreed method. However, if communication is inadequate, even if the correct washing method is chosen, disputes may arise due to lack of communication with the consumer.
Ms. Xie, a resident of Hefei, entrusted a laundry shop to dry clean her down jacket, but the company actually washed the down jacket with water, causing damage. As a result, a dispute arose between the two parties. After multiple unsuccessful negotiations, Ms. Xie sued the laundry company for compensation. Recently, the Baohe District Court of Hefei City concluded the case.
Ms. Xie described the incident: on May 21, 2012, she had a down jacket worth 1320 yuan cleaned at the laundry shop. The agreed cleaning method was dry cleaning, but the laundry shop washed the down jacket with water without her consent, damaging it. Therefore, Ms. Xie demanded compensation of 1320 yuan from the laundry shop and a refund of 40 yuan for the laundry fee. During the trial, Ms. Xie provided the purchase receipt and photos before and after washing.
In court, the laundry shop argued that the staff did not follow the agreed method when cleaning the down jacket, but the jacket was not damaged and they did not agree to compensate.
After trial, the court held that the laundry shop was at fault for not dry cleaning as agreed, causing the clothes to be less fluffy than before, and should provide corresponding compensation. Finally, the court ruled that the laundry company pay 300 yuan in compensation and refund the 40 yuan laundry fee.
The presiding judge reminded consumers: when dry cleaning clothes, choose laundry shops with good reputation, high service quality, and complete certifications, and properly keep relevant purchase and payment receipts. In case of disputes, you can protect your rights through legal channels.
