We need to clean the washing machine regularly and disinfect it. Generally, for a newly purchased washing machine, it should be cleaned and disinfected once every two to three months after six months of use.
For washing machines with non-metallic inner tubs, place them in an aqueous solution containing 300ppm to 500ppm of effective chlorine (ppm means parts per million), run for 3 to 5 minutes, then drain. For washing machines with metal inner tubs, soak in a 0.5% to 1% glutaraldehyde solution for 10 to 15 minutes, then drain.
Since mold is very sensitive to temperature, its survival rate is very low in 35°C water and almost zero in 45°C hot water, so washing with 45°C hot water can also effectively kill mold.
Washing machine cleaning precautions:
1. The lower drain outlet must be higher than the drain pipe to prevent water from remaining inside the drain pipe.
2. Take out the clothes immediately after washing to dry; never leave them inside.
3. Store the washing machine in a well-ventilated and dry place; avoid storing it in the bathroom.
4. When not in use, remove the filter bag and hang it outside to dry thoroughly.
5. After washing clothes, be sure to drain all the water inside the washing machine and open the lid to dry, to prevent residual water from becoming a breeding ground for microorganisms.
6. For top-loading washing machines, wipe the inside dry with a dry cloth after use. For front-loading washing machines, in addition to this, also wipe the water from the gasket embedded in the door frame to prevent mold growth.
7. It is best to rinse the drain pipe with clean water after each use.
