Diligent ladies, after washing clothes, not only wipe everything outside the washing machine clean but also close the machine door and even cover it with a protective cover. However, professionals warn that closing the washing machine door is not conducive to the evaporation of residual moisture and can easily breed mold, which harms the health of family members.
People may not have noticed that outside the washing drum of the washing machine, there is an outer tub, and the washing water flows back and forth in the gap between these two tubs. The gap is not easy to clean, and over time, a large amount of dirt accumulates. This dirt harbors various pathogenic bacteria and mold, which reproduce faster in a humid environment. During washing, mold spores spread with the water flow, contaminating clothes and transferring to the human body, causing skin itching, allergies, and even triggering dermatitis.
Therefore, after washing clothes with a washing machine, the door should be left open. For top-loading pulsator washing machines, use a dry cloth to wipe the inside water dry; for front-loading drum washing machines, also wipe the water embedded in the door gasket dry. When not in use, the filter bag should be removed and dried thoroughly outside.
