During the change of seasons, it's inevitable to do some mending and washing. Should you toss your clothes into the washing machine at home or entrust them to a dry cleaner? A diligent housewife might think, "I can handle it all by myself, even if it means getting a sore back and arms!" However, a smart housewife will make a detailed "cleaning action plan" and entrust clothes that are not suitable for water washing to the dry cleaner!
Ren Shucheng, a Chinese laundry industry expert and Technical Director of Rongchang Ilsa Laundry Chain Group, explained that clothes not suitable for home water washing include suits, qipaos, Tang suits, fur clothing, etc., because washing these at home will cause serious damage to the garments. "For example, fur will shrink and deform after water washing; suits will deform and cannot be restored after water washing."
Are more expensive clothes more suitable for dry cleaning? "No, actually some clothes are not suitable for dry cleaning, such as garments made of artificial leather, which will harden after dry cleaning; moreover, dry cleaning cannot remove non-oily stains like milk stains, fruit stains, etc., and may even make these stains more stubborn."
Ren Shucheng also specially reminds housewives that clothes taken from the dry cleaner are covered with plastic bags, which must be removed when storing. In addition, clothes after dry cleaning should not be worn immediately; it is best to air them out in a ventilated place.
