Experts point out that sunlight is a natural disinfectant, and ultraviolet rays can kill various harmful organisms such as mites, bacteria, and viruses. The best time to dry clothes is between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., especially from 12 noon to 3 p.m., when ultraviolet rays are strongest. The drying time for clothes does not need to be too long; generally, 3 hours is enough to be effective. Additionally, windows should be opened frequently to keep indoor air ventilated, well-lit, and dry.
Many people hang clothes directly under the sun after washing, which may damage their normal lifespan. In fact, there are techniques for drying clothes:
1. Anti-wrinkle drying method: After clothes finish spinning in the dehydrator, it is best to take them out immediately to dry, because leaving clothes in the dehydrator for too long can cause fading and wrinkling. Secondly, after taking clothes out of the dehydrator, shake them a few times immediately to prevent wrinkles. Also, shirts, blouses, and bed sheets can be stretched and lightly patted after drying to help prevent wrinkles.
2. Drying method for synthetic fiber clothes: Synthetic fiber clothes can be hung directly on hangers after washing to air dry naturally. This way, they do not wrinkle and the clothes appear crisp.
3. Silk and wool clothes must avoid direct sunlight: Especially many clothes made of wool, silk, nylon, etc., tend to yellow after being exposed to direct sunlight. Therefore, these clothes are best dried in the shade to avoid direct sun exposure.
4. Sweater drying method: After washing and spinning, sweaters can be laid flat on a net or curtain to shape and dry slightly, then hung on a hanger to dry in a ventilated and cool place. Additionally, before drying fine wool sweaters, it is best to wrap a towel around the hanger to prevent deformation.
