Silk shirts refer to shirts made primarily from silk fabric; they are soft, smooth, lightweight, and comfortable, making them premium among shirts. However, due to
the basic characteristics of silk, shirts made from silk are very easily damaged during washing. Why is this?
First, let's understand the characteristics of silk: silk is a protein fiber that is very sensitive to alkalinity. At the same time, many silk textiles are made
using untwisted yarns that have not undergone spinning processing, so their abrasion resistance is poor. Additionally, the color fastness of silk textiles is generally low,
which makes silk shirts very prone to damage during washing.
When washing silk shirts, pay attention to the following points:
(1) You must use neutral detergents; do not blindly use alkaline laundry powder, and never use strong alkali, chlorine-containing, or enzyme-added laundry powders to protect
the texture of the silk.
(2) Silk shirts should be washed with water at a relatively low temperature, generally not exceeding 40℃, and cold water washing is also acceptable.
(3) Washing machines can be used, but the gentle cycle must be selected. Do not use the regular cycle to wash silk textiles.
(4) If color fading occurs, do not stop the process; continue washing and rinse as soon as possible. Add an appropriate amount of glacial acetic acid during rinsing to prevent
color fading.
(5) Satin fabrics cannot be machine washed and must be hand washed. Use a soft brush to brush along the grain, and avoid brushing across the fabric weave.
(6) Dehydration is allowed; for more delicate fabrics, wrap them in a large towel or cotton cloth before spinning dry.
(6) 可以脱水,比较娇气的面料应该使用大毛巾或棉布包裹起来再甩干。
