The light-colored clothes we usually refer to are single-color light clothes, light-colored striped clothes, light-colored printed clothes, and white clothes. After wearing these clothes for a period of time, most of them become less vibrant. Some turn yellow, some turn gray, in short, they are not as fresh and bright. How can these clothes maintain their brightness for a longer time? The key lies in how to wash them.
Since no matter how you wash, some extremely fine dirt may remain on the clothes. Therefore, to keep clothes very clean, bright, and translucent, efforts must be made to minimize residue. To minimize dirt residue on clothes, sufficient attention must be paid during wearing, storing, washing, and rinsing. The specific measures are:
(1) Do not wait until clothes are very dirty before washing;
(2) Wash dirty clothes as soon as possible after changing; do not accumulate them for a long time before washing;
(3) Do not wash very dirty clothes together with relatively clean clothes;
(4) Multiple rinses with small amounts of water are much more effective than fewer rinses with large amounts of water;
(5) Clothes made of printed fabric are best washed inside out to minimize friction on the surface of the clothes;
(6) When using a washing machine, a small amount of disinfectant bleach can be added (average 1–2 grams per garment);
(7) Do not expose clothes to strong sunlight when drying after washing;
(8) Light-colored shirts, jackets, casual pants, etc., should not be hung for long-term storage. Clothes not worn temporarily can be stored in plastic bags to reduce oxidation.
