Wool sweaters are frequently worn garments and are relatively delicate clothing. Improper washing can cause shrinkage and deformation, making them unwearable. So, should wool sweaters be washed with water or dry cleaned?
Generally, wool sweaters should be dry cleaned. However, frequent dry cleaning can cause wool sweaters to gradually lose their fluffiness and softness, and some water-soluble stains cannot be completely removed. Therefore, some light-colored wool sweaters may appear grayish after multiple dry cleanings.
Therefore, it is best to dry clean wool sweaters several times and then wash them with water once, followed by softening treatment after water washing. Of course, washing wool sweaters with water requires a certain level of professional skill, and a neutral detergent must be used. Machine washing is generally not recommended; only hand washing should be used.
