Washing Method
Clean at least once every three months (do not wash with water, dry cleaning is recommended). Recently, machine-washable suits have appeared on the market (to be verified). Dust is the biggest enemy of suits, causing them to lose their freshness, so it is necessary to gently brush off dust regularly. Sometimes, if the suit picks up other fibers or more stubborn dust, adhesive tape works very well to absorb it. If worn for a short time and the surface is not very dusty, you can place a damp towel and lightly iron it. Suits worn for a long time tend to develop shine on the elbows and knees; prepare a half basin of water with a few drops of vinegar, dip a towel in it, and rub in one direction a few times to remove the shine.
Organizing and Storing
1. For wear and maintenance, it is best to wear a suit for one day and hang it for one day, or iron it after wearing for a few days. Do not lie down wearing the suit, and try not to put heavy items inside the suit bag. For storage and maintenance, if not worn for a long time, after ensuring cleanliness, hang it in a dry, dark, and ventilated place and apply moth prevention. It is best to prepare special hangers for suits in the wardrobe to maintain the original shape. In the office, never put the suit on the back of a chair; it should be hung or laid flat. It is recommended not to wear the same suit for more than two consecutive days. High-quality suits deform due to local tension after wearing, but allowing them to rest properly will restore their shape, so it is advisable to have two sets to alternate.
2. Remove items from pockets: After returning home, you should immediately change clothes and remove items from pockets. Hanging a suit with pockets full of items easily causes deformation.
3. Simple wrinkle removal for suits: Suits worn for a long time or stored in the wardrobe benefit from being hung in a slightly humid place to help fibers recover from fatigue, but excessive humidity affects the suit's shaping. Generally, wool suits placed overnight in an environment with 30% relative humidity can remove wrinkles.
4. Suits should be hung properly: It is best to hang suits on wide-shouldered wooden or plastic curved suit hangers. Use clip hangers designed for trousers to align the crease and clip the trouser legs, hanging them upside down. Before storing suits, dry clean to remove dirt, hang them after dry cleaning, and place mothballs or other insect repellents in the pockets. Store in a well-ventilated, low-humidity place.
