Underwear is the clothing closest to the body. First, pay attention to cleanliness; dirt not only means uncleanliness but also affects the fabric's breathability, light absorption, and softness, which can damage the fabric. It is advisable to buy several pieces and wear them alternately, so each piece of underwear lasts longer. High-end or expensive products are sometimes only aesthetically pleasing and not necessarily durable, so they require extra care.
Underwear fabrics are mostly soft, thin, and delicate. When putting on or taking off, do not use excessive force, and be careful that nails do not snag the fibers. Also, avoid getting foundation or lipstick on the underwear when dressing or undressing.
When wearing and washing underwear, it is best to hand wash with water below 40 degrees Celsius. Do not use chlorine bleach, as it damages the fabric and causes yellowing. The correct method is to fully dissolve an appropriate amount of neutral detergent or underwear-specific neutral detergent in 30°C to 40°C warm water before placing the clothes in. Do not apply detergent directly onto the underwear, or the color will be uneven. When washing, gently rub areas prone to deformation such as collars and cuffs by hand or use a soft brush. For particularly dirty spots, do not use a small brush; instead, use the underwear itself to rub against each other to completely remove stains.
When using a washing machine, please use a laundry bag. Avoid washing with outerwear to prevent contamination, or mixing with dark-colored clothes to avoid dye transfer. After washing, keep the spin-dry time under 30 seconds to prevent excessive spinning that can deform the underwear's "steel bones" and damage fabric fibers. Avoid wringing the underwear by hand; after lightly twisting to remove water, wrap it in a dry towel and press with your hands to absorb moisture.
Carefully smooth wrinkled clothes back to their original shape and dry them in a cool place. Sunlight can cause clothes to deteriorate and yellow, shortening their lifespan.
If storing for a long time, try to minimize using sealed plastic bags to store underwear, as long-term sealing can cause mold. Avoid placing them together with mothballs or other insect repellents to prevent the fabric and elastic from losing elasticity. Wool underwear must not be damp and should be used with desiccants.
