Key Point One
First, confirm whether the umbrella in hand is a sunshade umbrella or an all-weather umbrella—when purchasing, please check the tags and the stickers on the handle (umbrella tip), as the tags will contain information about materials and processing. Please keep them properly.
Key Point Two
The latest sun umbrellas often have special UV processing, and all-weather umbrellas are treated with water-repellent processing. Considering the styles, various embroidery is often done on the umbrella fabric, so try to take good care of the surface fibers and avoid getting them dirty.
Precautions for All-Weather Umbrellas
1. The dirtiest part of the umbrella is the fold area; try to avoid rubbing this part when folding the umbrella fabric. Sweat and friction will reduce the water-repellent effect of the umbrella fabric.
2. After using it on rainy days, do not fold it up while still damp; dry it first in a well-ventilated place before storing. Otherwise, the umbrella ribs may rust, and rust stains may adhere to the fabric. Also, avoid drying it under direct strong sunlight to prevent discoloration of the fabric.
3. When cleaning, use a sponge or soft cloth dipped in diluted neutral detergent to gently scrub, then wipe off the detergent from the fabric. Avoid direct sunlight and dry it in a well-ventilated place.
Precautions for Sunshade Umbrellas
1. The main function of a sunshade umbrella is to block ultraviolet rays. Because the fabric is finely made and contains some tiny particles, avoid washing the sunshade umbrella unless necessary.
2. If washing is necessary, the best method is to rinse with clean water without using a brush. It is best to rinse the umbrella surface with clean water and try not to get water on the frame to avoid rusting.
3. After a rain umbrella gets splashed with mud, brush off the mud with a soft brush after drying. Cloth and silk umbrellas should be cleaned with alcohol solution or diluted detergent solution, then rinsed with clean water and dried. Silk umbrellas should not be opened for cleaning, as they are prone to cracking when dry.
4. Cloth umbrellas should not be cleaned with gasoline or kerosene; dark-colored cloth umbrellas can be cleaned with strong tea water, patterned cloth umbrellas with ammonia solution, and for stains, a 50% vinegar and water solution can be used.
