Leather and Fur Garment Dry Cleaning Methods

Leather and fur clothing cleaning can be divided into three methods: dry cleaning, water washing, and manual dry and wet cleaning. The correct and scientific washing method and operation should be determined based on the characteristics of the clothing, tanning process, color fastness, quality, structure and style, craftsmanship, and degree of dirtiness, following the principle of "different clothes require different treatments."
Currently, petroleum-based dry cleaning solvents (DF2000 or D-40, D-60, D-80) are commonly used. Recently, silicone-based, K-4, and F141B dry cleaning solvents have been introduced. These solvents are relatively safe for dry cleaning leather and fur, providing good cleaning effects. From the perspective of dry cleaning, they are the preferred methods.
The tetrachloroethylene dry cleaning method has certain limitations. For example, it is not suitable for special processing techniques, various decorations, printed patterns, laser pearl patterns, and light-colored glossy leather with adhesive return issues. Strict pretreatment is required, controlling the washing method, time, solvent, and drying temperature. It is recommended that the dry cleaning solvent temperature be between 11°C and 15°C. Additionally, special additives (tetrachloroethylene fat agents, German Xishi) and other specialized fat agents must be added during the dry cleaning process. The drying temperature should be around 50°C for thorough drying.
Dry cleaning process flow: First, strictly classify (by color, style and structure, leather type, and degree of dirtiness) — pretreatment (special pretreatment agent ratio, dry cleaning additives with petroleum or tetrachloroethylene in ratios of 2:8, 3:7, 4:6) — let stand for 5-10 minutes — gentle washing, low liquid level dry cleaning (time varies by clothing) — medium to high liquid level main wash — high liquid level filtered circulation rinsing — dehydration and spinning — drying — cooling and deodorizing — machine unloading completed — hanging inspection, ironing and shaping — maintenance, repair, color adjustment, spraying, hand feel, fixing — inspection passed, packaging and shipment.
