Nail polish is composed of pigments, a base, and fragrances. The base of most nail polishes is nitrocellulose, so when nail polish stains clothing, it forms a hard stain spot. To remove this stain, the first consideration is to dissolve the base of the nail polish, which means breaking down its carrier, and then removing the other parts.
Turn the clothing inside out, with the stained part facing down, and place some absorbent material underneath (such as a clean waste towel, cloth piece, tissue paper, etc.) or place it directly on the arm of a stain removal table. Use Wilson company's oil-based stain remover Tar Go, Xishi purple stain remover, or Funaite degreaser (Red Cat) to remove the stain. The above methods are relatively slow and require repeated dissolving and spraying. Additionally, organic solvents can be used for direct dissolution and removal. The solvents chosen are acetone or nitro thinner, used in the same way as described above. Using solvents for direct dissolution and removal is faster but carries more risk. Regardless of the method used, the residual chemicals must be thoroughly removed after stain removal.
If nail polish stains acetate fiber fabric, it will cause the fabric to dissolve or partially dissolve, resulting in irreparable damage, and the above stain removal methods cannot be used.
