In the ancient agricultural era, people lived a pastoral life of "working at sunrise and resting at sunset." At that time, people enjoyed green air, green mountains and waters, green food, and even their thoughts were green.
However, with the improvement of human innovation ability and the great enrichment of material wealth, while people continuously pursue a better life, they also pay more and more costs. The air became polluted, food had problems, and the mind became uneasy. Haven't you noticed: breathing one more mouthful of polluted air, eating one more bite of unclean food, inadvertently generating one more breath of resentment; when these three "mouths" accumulate little by little into a "mountain," a small "illness" turns into a big "disease" — this is "cancer."
Many years ago, there was a very popular song with a few deeply impressive lyrics that I still remember: "Three parts are destined by heaven, seven parts rely on hard work; only those who strive will win." But now it is rarely heard. The change of popularity always has its reason. "Three parts are destined by heaven, seven parts rely on hard work" is definitely correct; I think the problem lies in "only those who strive will win." In the early days of reform and opening up, the market was disorderly, survival of the fittest prevailed, and striving for development created countless heroes. With the establishment of legal systems and market regulations, and repeated reshuffling of competitors, the market has now improved, but people feel increasing pressure.
We yearn for human dignity, perfection in work, smooth business, and success in career. In short, we all hope to become "winners" in this world.
The Chinese character "赢" (win) is composed of several components: "亡" meaning escape, death, or loss, which can be extended to signify a sense of worry; "口" meaning mouth, the organ for eating and speaking, also representing a gate or passage, extended to mean communication; "月" originally derived from "肉" (meat) in ancient Chinese, relating to the human body and extended to health; "贝" meaning shell, which generally refers to shelled mollusks but specifically denotes ancient currency made from shells, extended to money or wealth; and "凡" meaning all, worldly, or ordinary, extended to imply peace or a calm heart. Thus, the complete character "赢" conveys that a person who intends to accomplish something must first have a sense of concern, possess good communication skills, and maintain a healthy body; only then can they obtain benefits and earn money, and after becoming wealthy, they should keep a calm and humble mindset.
I think winning temporarily can at most be called making a profit; winning for a lifetime can be called perfection. This is not a word-splitting game.
"Only those who strive will win" belongs to an era of reckless bravery, and its passing is inevitable. Whether you like it or not, we have already entered a new era of "those who know how to strive will win." "Knowing how to strive" points to win-win, and its path is communication, mindset, and method. Communication means you need to open up your internal environment's "small cycle" and also the external environment's "large cycle"; mindset means you should have the mentality of "striving for what you want and enjoying what you have"; method means "those who achieve themselves must first help others," and be able to keep up with the times.
