1 Scope
This standard specifies the quality, washing, and renewal requirements for textiles used in the hotel industry.
This standard applies to the configuration and management of textiles used in the hotel industry (including tourist star-rated hotels and social inns).

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Hotel Industry Hotel
An industry that operates by renting guest rooms on a per room (suite) per night basis, utilizing accommodation, catering, conference facilities, and providing corresponding services.
3.2 Bed Pad bed pad
An item made of fabric sewn with filling, placed on the bed as a protective pad and to increase comfort.
3.3 Bed Cover bed cover
A woven fabric made from textile fibers as raw material, single or multi-layer composite, covering the bed for protection and decoration.
3.4 Bed Skirting bed skirting
Fabric fitted over the mattress for protection and decoration.
3.5 Bed Runner bed runner
Fabric placed at the foot of the bed for decorative purposes.
3.6 Table Cloth table cloth
A large-area woven fabric made from textile fibers as raw material, spread over dining tables.
3.7 Napkin napkin
A woven fabric made from textile fibers used during meals to wipe mouth and hands or as a cover.
3.8 Face Towel face towel
A square terry knit fabric made from natural fibers or new environmentally friendly materials, used during meals to wipe hands and face.
3.9 Table Skirting table skirting
Fabric surrounding the edges of dining tables, conference tables, serving as a cover and decoration.
4 Basic Principles
4.1 All public textiles shall comply with the basic safety technical requirements for textile products specified in GB 18401.
4.2 The washing, stain removal, bleaching, acid washing neutralization, and softening of textiles should aim to reduce pollution, protect the environment, and provide safe and healthy products, preferably using advanced environmentally friendly technologies, equipment, and eco-friendly detergents.
4.3 Textiles that come into direct contact with guests' bodies shall comply with the corresponding biochemical standards.
4.4 Washed towels and bedding shall meet the following standards:
— Total bacterial count: <200 cfu/25㎠;
— Escherichia coli: Not detectable/50㎠;
— Pathogenic bacteria: Not detectable/50㎠.
5 Quality Standards for Textiles Used in One- and Two-Star Hotels
5.1 Guest Room Bedding
5.1.1 Quilt Covers, Pillowcases, Bed Sheets
5.1.1.1 Quality
The quality of quilt covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall meet the following:
— Made of pure cotton or cotton-polyester blended fabric with a cotton content not less than 50%;
— Yarn count not less than 40s×40s, warp and weft density not less than 110×90 (T200);
—— Mainly white, fabric smooth, good breathability, no damage, no stains;
—— The internal quality and appearance quality shall meet the qualified grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
5.1.1.2 Washing
The washing of duvet covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall meet the following requirements:
—— Fabric clean and flat;
—— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— pH value reaches 6.5 to 7.
5.1.1.3 Replacement
Duvet covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall be replaced under the following conditions:
—— Damage, severe wear on corners, edges falling off;
—— Stains that cannot be cleaned;
—— Even if none of the above occur, washing has exceeded 150 times.
5.1.2 Quilt Core and Mattress Pad
5.1.2.1 Quality
The quality of quilt cores and mattress pads shall meet the following items:
—— Fabric smooth, good breathability;
—— Filling fibers soft, evenly distributed, good thermal insulation, no odor, no stains, impurity rates of cotton and non-cotton fibers;
—— ≤1.4% and ≤2.0% respectively;
—— The internal quality and appearance quality shall meet the qualified grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
5.1.2.2 Washing
The washing of quilt cores and mattress pads shall meet the following requirements:
—— Basically maintain original appearance, elasticity, and thermal insulation;
—— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— Washing frequency determined by usage, but should be cleaned at least once every 3 months.
5.1.2.3 Replacement
Quilt cores and mattress pads shall be replaced under the following conditions:
—— Mold spots, damage, filling leakage, stains that cannot be cleaned;
—— Severe shrinkage, deformation.
5.1.3 Pillow Core
5.1.3.1 Quality
The quality of pillow cores shall meet the following items:
—— Filling evenly distributed, good breathability, no odor;
—— Moderate height;
—— Good workmanship, filling tightly wrapped, cover flat, no wrinkles;
—— The internal quality and appearance quality shall meet the qualified grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
5.1.3.2 Washing
The washing of pillow cores shall meet the following requirements:
—— Basically maintain original appearance and elasticity;
—— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— Washing frequency determined by usage, but should be cleaned at least once every 3 months.
5.1.3.3 Replacement
Pillow cores shall be replaced under the following conditions:
—— Mold spots, damage, filling leakage, stains that cannot be cleaned;
—— Severe shrinkage, deformation.
5.1.4 Bed Skirt
5.1.4.1 Quality
The quality of bed skirts shall meet the following items:
—— Appearance clean and flat, appropriate height;
—— No damage, no stains;
—— Good manufacturing process;
—— Internal quality and appearance quality meet the qualified grade standards specified in GB/T 19817.
5.1.4.2 Washing
The washing of bed skirts shall meet the following requirements:
—— Fabric clean and flat;
—— No pulls, no damage, no stains, no odor.
5.1.4.3 Replacement
The bed skirt should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Significant change in base color, fabric deformation;
——Severe wear and tear, damage;
——Stains that cannot be cleaned.
5.1.5 Bed runner, bed cover
5.1.5.1 Quality
The quality of bed runners and bed covers should meet the following:
——Mainly decorative fabric, bed cover is single-layer or quilted;
——Slip-resistant, anti-static, no pilling;
——No damage, no stains;
——Internal and external quality meet the qualified grade requirements of GB/T 19817;
——Bed covers meet the flame retardant level 2 standard specified in GB 20286--2006.
5.1.5.2 Washing
Washing of bed runners and bed covers should meet the following requirements:
—— Fabric clean and flat;
——No wrinkles, no stains, no odor.
5.1.5.3 Replacement
The bed runner and bed cover should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Significant change in base color, fabric deformation;
——Severe wear and tear, damage;
——Stains that cannot be cleaned.
5.2 Bathroom supplies
5.2.1 Towels
5.2.1.1 Quality
The quality of towels should meet the following:
——100% cotton, soft, good water absorption, mainly white; colored towels must be colorfast;
——Face towel: yarn count not less than 21s/2, weight not less than 90g;
——Bath towel: yarn count not less than 21s/2, weight not less than 280g;
——Internal and external quality meet the qualified grade standards specified in Tables 1 and 4 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
5.2.1.2 Washing
Towel washing should meet the following requirements:
——Soft and clean;
——No tears or damage, no stains, no odor;
——Towels must be washed separately from other textiles.
5.2.1.3 Replacement
Towels should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Change in base color, matted fibers, poor water absorption;
——Damaged edging, severe skipped stitches;
——Contamination, mildew spots, stains difficult to clean;
——Weight less than 90% of the original product weight standard;
——Even if the above conditions are not met, replacement is required after more than 130 washes.
5.2.2 Shower curtain
5.2.2.1 Quality
The quality of shower curtains should meet the following:
——Made of waterproof fabric, non-toxic, harmless, odorless, with good waterproof performance;
——Fabric is clean, flawless, and undamaged;
——Good workmanship.
5.2.2.2 Washing
Washing of shower curtains should meet the following requirements:
——Clean, no stains, no odor;
——Washing frequency depends on usage, but should be professionally cleaned at least once every 2 months.
5.2.2.3 Replacement
The shower curtain should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Severe base color change, material aging;
——Severe deformation, damage, contamination, mildew spots, stains that cannot be cleaned.
5.3 Other
5.3.1 Tablecloths and Napkins
5.3.1.1 Quality
The quality of tablecloths and napkins should meet the following requirements:
——Made of natural fibers, chemical fibers, or new environmentally friendly materials, white or colored; colored must have no color difference, no fading, and no color loss;
——Clean, crisp, with good water absorption, anti-static, and no pilling;
——Tablecloths must meet dining table size requirements;
——Appearance quality and internal quality must meet the qualified grade standards specified in Tables 3 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
5.3.1.2 Washing
Washing of tablecloths and napkins should meet the following requirements:
——Clean, flat, crisp, with moderate starching;
——No stains, no odor;
——pH value between 5.5 and 6.5;
——Tablecloths and napkins must be washed separately from other textiles.
5.3.1.3 Replacement
Tablecloths and napkins should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Significant base color change;
——Damage, severe shrinkage, or deformation;
—— Stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Even if the above conditions are not met, natural fiber tablecloths, chemical fiber tablecloths, and napkins should be replaced after more than 130, 180, and 130 washes respectively.
5.3.2 Chair Covers and Table Skirts
5.3.2.1 Quality
The quality of chair covers and table skirts should meet the following requirements:
——Fabric must be clean, without damage or stains;
——Slip-resistant, anti-static, and no pilling;
——Internal and appearance quality must meet the qualified grade standards specified in Tables 3 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
5.3.2.2 Washing
Washing of chair covers and table skirts should meet the following requirements:
——Clean, flat, and crisp;
——No damage, no stains, no odor.
5.3.2.3 Replacement
Chair covers and table skirts should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Severe base color change, fabric deformation;
——Fabric damage, loose threads, or detached edges;
——Stains that cannot be cleaned.
5.3.3 Curtains
5.3.3.1 Quality
The quality of curtains should meet the following requirements:
——Sheer curtains mainly made of chemical fiber fabric, curtains mainly made of decorative fabric;
——Fabric must be clean, have good light blocking, be anti-static, and no pilling;
——No damage, no stains;
—— Good manufacturing process;
——Internal and external quality meet the qualified grade requirements of GB/T 19817;
——Curtains must meet the flame retardant level 2 standard specified in GB 20286--2006.
5.3.3.2 Washing
Washing of curtains should meet the following requirements:
——Clean, flat, and crisp;
——No wrinkles, no stains, no odor;
——Washing frequency depends on usage but should be at least once every 6 months.
5.3.3.3 Replacement
Sheer curtains and curtains should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Severe base color change, material aging;
——Severe shrinkage, deformation, damage, or loose threads;
——Stains that cannot be cleaned.
6 Quality Standards for Textiles Used in Three-Star Hotels
6.1 Guest Room Bedding
6.1.1 Duvet Cover, Pillowcase, Bed Sheet
6.1.1.1 Quality
The quality of quilt covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall meet the following:
— Made of pure cotton or cotton-polyester blended fabric with a cotton content not less than 50%;
——Yarn count not less than 40s×40s, warp and weft density not less than 140×120 (T260);
——Mainly white, fabric smooth, good breathability, no damage, no stains;
——Internal quality and appearance quality shall meet the first-class grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
6.1.1.2 Washing
The washing of duvet covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall meet the following requirements:
—— Fabric clean and flat;
—— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— pH value reaches 6.5 to 7.
6.1.1.3 Replacement
Duvet covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall be replaced under the following conditions:
——Base color change, severe abrasion, strength reduction;
——Corner damage, hem detachment;
—— Stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Although the above conditions have not appeared, washing has exceeded 140 times.
6.1.2 Quilt Core, Mattress Pad
6.1.2.1 Quality
The quality of quilt cores and mattress pads shall meet the following items:
——Use pure cotton or cotton-polyester blended fabric with cotton content not less than 50%, fabric smooth and breathable;
——Filling fibers soft, evenly distributed, good warmth retention, no odor, impurity rates of cotton fibers and non-cotton fibers ≤1.4% and ≤2.0% respectively;
——Internal quality and appearance quality shall meet the first-class grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively;
——Mattress pad filling reaches 120g / ㎡.
6.1.2.2 Washing
The washing of quilt cores and mattress pads shall meet the following requirements:
—— Basically maintain original appearance, elasticity, and thermal insulation;
—— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— Washing frequency determined by usage, but should be cleaned at least once every 3 months.
6.1.2.3 Replacement
Quilt cores and mattress pads shall be replaced under the following conditions:
—— Mold spots, damage, filling leakage, stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Relatively severe shrinkage and deformation.
6.1.3 Pillow Core
6.1.3.1 Quality
The quality of the pillow core shall meet the following items:
——Filling fibers soft, evenly distributed, good breathability, no odor;
——Moderate height, good elasticity;
——Good processing quality, filling tightly wrapped, cover flat and wrinkle-free;
——Internal quality and appearance quality shall meet the first-class grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
6.1.3.2 Washing
Pillow core washing shall meet the following requirements:
——Basically maintain the original appearance and elasticity;
—— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— Washing frequency determined by usage, but should be cleaned at least once every 3 months.
6.1.3.3 Replacement
Pillow cores shall be replaced under the following conditions:
——Mildew spots, damage, filling leakage, stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Relatively severe shrinkage and deformation;
——Significant decrease in comfort.
6.1.4 Bed Skirt
6.1.4.1 Quality
The quality of the bed skirt shall meet the following items:
——Appearance clean and flat, appropriate height;
——No damage, no stains;
——Slip-resistant, anti-static, and no pilling;
—— Good manufacturing process;
——Internal quality and appearance quality meet the first-class grade standards specified in GB/T 19817.
6.1.4.2 Washing
Bed skirt washing shall meet the following requirements:
——Clean and flat;
——No pulls, damage, wrinkles, stains, or odors.
6.1.4.3 Replacement
The bed skirt shall be replaced when the following conditions occur:
——Base color change, fabric deformation;
——Relatively severe abrasion, snagging, thread loss, scratches;
——Stains that cannot be cleaned.
6.1.5 Bed Flag, Bed Cover
6.1.5.1 Quality
The quality of bed runners and bed covers should meet the following:
——Mainly use high-quality decorative fabric, bed cover interlayer uses shaped cotton, hollow cotton, or new environmentally friendly materials;
——Slip-resistant, anti-static, and no pilling;
—— Good manufacturing process;
——Internal quality and appearance quality meet the first-class grade requirements of GB/T 19817;
——Bed cover meets the flame retardant level 2 standard specified in GB 20286-2006.
6.1.5.2 Washing
Washing of bed runners and bed covers should meet the following requirements:
——Clean and flat;
——No pulls, damage, wrinkles, stains, or odors.
6.1.5.3 Replacement
The bed runner and bed cover should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Base color change, fabric deformation;
——Severe wear, pulling threads, loose threads, scratches;
——Stains that cannot be cleaned.
6.2 Bathroom Supplies
6.2.1 Towels
6.2.1.1 Quality
The quality of towels should meet the following:
——100% cotton, soft, good water absorption, mainly white; colored towels must not fade or discolor;
——Face towel: yarn count not less than 21s/2, size not less than 550mm×300mm, weight not less than 110g;
——Bath towel: yarn count not less than 21s/2, size not less than 1200mm×600mm, weight not less than 400g;
——Floor towel: yarn count not less than 21s/2, size not less than 650mm×350mm, weight not less than 280g;
——Internal and external quality must meet first-class standards specified in Tables 1 and 4 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
6.2.1.2 Washing
Towel washing should meet the following requirements:
——Soft and clean;
——No pulling threads, no stains, no odor;
——pH value between 6.5 and 7;
——Face towels and bath towels must be washed separately from floor towels and bedding textiles.
6.2.1.3 Replacement
Towels should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Base color changes, fuzzing, poor water absorption;
——Damaged edging, severe skipped stitches;
——Contamination, mildew spots, stains difficult to clean;
——Weight less than 90% of the original product weight standard;
——Even if none of the above occur, replacement is required after more than 120 washes.
6.2.2 Shower Curtains
6.2.2.1 Quality
The quality of shower curtains should meet the following:
——Made of high-grade waterproof fabric, non-toxic, harmless, odorless, anti-static, with good waterproof performance;
——Fabric is clean, flat, flawless, and undamaged;
——Good workmanship.
6.2.2.2 Washing
Shower curtain washing should meet the following requirements:
——Clean, no stains, no odor;
——Washing frequency depends on usage, at least professionally washed once every 2 months.
6.2.2.3 Replacement
Shower curtains should be replaced when the following occur:
——Base color changes, material aging;
——Deformation, damage, contamination, mildew spots, stains that cannot be cleaned.
6.3 Dining Supplies
6.3.1 Tablecloths and Napkins
6.3.1.1 Quality
The quality of tablecloths and napkins should meet the following requirements:
——Made of natural fibers, chemical fibers, or new environmentally friendly materials; white or colored, with colored items having no color difference, fading, or discoloration;
——Clean, crisp, good water absorption, anti-static, no pilling;
——Tablecloths meet dining table size requirements;
——Appearance and internal quality meet first-class standards specified in Tables 3 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
6.3.1.2 Washing
Tablecloths and napkins washing should meet the following requirements:
——Clean, flat, crisp, moderate sizing;
——No stains, no odor;
——pH value between 5.5 and 6.5;
——Tablecloths and napkins must be washed separately from other textiles.
6.3.1.3 Replacement
Tablecloths and napkins should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Base color changes, fabric thinning, strength reduction;
——Shrinkage, deformation, fabric damage, edge damage;
—— Stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Even if none of the above occur, natural fiber tablecloths, chemical fiber tablecloths, and napkins should be replaced after more than 120, 170, and 120 washes respectively.
6.3.2 Small Towels
6.3.2.1 Quality
The quality of small towels should meet the following items:
— Made of pure cotton or new environmentally friendly materials, soft, good water absorption, mainly white, colored ones must be colorfast;
— Internal quality and appearance quality shall respectively meet the first-class standards specified in Table 1 and Table 4 of GB/T 22800—2009.
6.3.2.2 Washing
The washing of small towels should meet the following requirements:
——Soft and clean;
——No pulling threads, no stains, no odor;
— Washing pH value should be 6.5 to 7;
— Small towels must be washed separately from bathroom towels, bedding, and other textiles.
6.3.2.3 Replacement
Small towels should be replaced under the following conditions:
——Change in base color, matted fibers, poor water absorption;
——Damaged edging, severe skipped stitches;
— Contamination, mildew spots, stains that cannot be cleaned;
— Even if the above conditions do not appear, replacement is required after 100 washes.
6.4 Others
6.4.1 Curtains
6.4.1.1 Quality
The quality of curtains should meet the following requirements:
— Sheer curtains are mainly made of high-quality chemical fiber fabrics, curtains mainly use high-quality decorative fabric materials, with good environmental protection functions;
— Fabric is clean, good light blocking, anti-static, no pilling;
— No damage, no stains; good workmanship;
——Internal quality and appearance quality meet the first-class grade requirements of GB/T 19817;
— Curtains meet the flame retardant level 2 standard specified in GB 20286-2006.
6.4.1.2 Washing
Curtain washing should meet the following requirements:
— Clean, flat, and crisp;
— No wrinkles, no stains, no odor;
— Washing frequency depends on usage but should be at least once every 6 months.
6.4.1.3 Replacement
Sheer curtains and curtains should be replaced under the following conditions:
— Base color change, material aging;
— Shrinkage, deformation, damage, scratches, thread loss, edge wear;
— Color spots, color difference, stains that cannot be cleaned.
6.4.2 Chair Covers and Table Skirts
6.4.2.1 Quality
The quality of chair covers and table skirts should meet the following requirements:
— Fabric is clean, no damage, no stains, no color spots, no color difference;
— Anti-slip, anti-static, no pilling;
— Internal quality and appearance quality shall respectively meet the first-class standards specified in Table 3 and Table 5 of GB/T 22800—2009.
6.4.2.2 Washing
Chair covers and table skirts washing should meet the following requirements:
——Clean, flat, and crisp;
——No wrinkles, no stains, no odor.
6.4.2.3 Replacement
Chair covers and table skirts should be replaced under the following conditions:
— Base color change, fabric deformation;
— Fabric wear, scratches, thread loss, hem detachment;
——Stains that cannot be cleaned.
7 Quality Standards for Textiles Used in Four-Star Hotels
7.1 Guest Room Bedding
7.1.1 Duvet Covers, Pillowcases, Bed Sheets
7.1.1.1 Quality
The quality of quilt covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall meet the following:
— Duvet covers and pillowcases are pure cotton; bed sheets can be pure cotton or cotton-polyester blends with a cotton content not less than 50%;
— Yarn count not less than 60s×40s, warp and weft density not less than 173×124 (T300);
— White, fabric smooth, good breathability, no damage, no stains;
— Internal quality and appearance quality shall respectively meet the premium grade standards specified in Table 2 and Table 5 of GB/T 22800—2009.
7.1.1.2 Washing
The washing of duvet covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall meet the following requirements:
——Clean and flat;
— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— pH value reaches 6.5 to 7.
7.1.1.3 Replacement
Duvet covers, pillowcases, and bed sheets shall be replaced under the following conditions:
——Base color change, fabric thinning, strength reduction;
——Fabric abrasion, yarn pulling, corner damage, hem detachment;
——Deformation, color difference, stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Although none of the above issues have appeared, washing has exceeded 130 times.
7.1.2 Core and mattress pad
7.1.2.1 Quality
The quality of quilt cores and mattress pads shall meet the following items:
——Use pure cotton or cotton-polyester blended fabric with cotton content not less than 50%, fabric smooth and breathable;
——Filling fibers such as cotton, down, silk, and chemical fiber are soft, evenly distributed, have good thermal insulation performance, and no odor;
——Internal quality and appearance quality meet the premium grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively;
——Mattress pad filling is not less than 120g / ㎡.
7.1.2.2 Washing
The washing of quilt cores and mattress pads shall meet the following requirements:
——Basically maintain the original appearance, elasticity, and thermal insulation;
— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— Washing frequency determined by usage, but should be cleaned at least once every 3 months.
7.1.2.3 Replacement
Quilt cores and mattress pads shall be replaced under the following conditions:
—— Mold spots, damage, filling leakage, stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Shrinkage, deformation.
7.1.3 Pillow core
7.1.3.1 Quality
The quality of pillow cores shall meet the following items:
——100% cotton fabric, smooth surface;
——Filling fibers soft, evenly distributed, good breathability, no odor;
——Moderate height, comfortable;
——Good processing quality, filling tightly wrapped, cover flat and wrinkle-free;
——Internal quality and appearance quality meet the premium grade standards specified in Tables 2 and 5 of GB/T 22800—2009 respectively.
7.1.3.2 Washing
The washing of pillow cores shall meet the following requirements:
——Basically maintain the original appearance and elasticity;
—— No damage, no stains, no odor;
—— Washing frequency determined by usage, but should be cleaned at least once every 3 months.
7.1.3.3 Replacement
Pillow cores shall be replaced under the following conditions:
—— Mold spots, damage, filling leakage, stains that cannot be cleaned;
——Shrinkage, deformation.
7.1.4 Bed skirt
