For experienced laundry managers, the operating status of the flatwork ironer is their primary concern, as it is the biggest bottleneck affecting the normal operation of the laundry, mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Firstly, the handling capacity for fabrics differs. When washing fabrics, they can generally be washed and dried in batches, and laundries usually have multiple washing machines and dryers, offering strong flexibility. However, fabrics can only be ironed one piece at a time through the flatwork ironer, and typically there is only one flatwork ironer in the laundry, which easily causes work blockage and forms a bottleneck.
Secondly, the adaptability to fabrics varies. Washing machines and dryers can be assigned to different equipment or programs based on different types of linens, but most different categories (texture, thickness, shape, size, moisture content, chemical content, etc.) of linens are ultimately ironed on the same flatwork ironer. The ironer needs to be constantly adjusted to accommodate these changes, which can cause operational and production difficulties.
Thirdly, the requirements for use and maintenance differ. The flatwork ironer is a piece of equipment that requires frequent maintenance, such as conveyor belts, ironing felts, and guide belts which are consumables and must be replaced or tightened regularly; waxing and cleaning the working surface are also frequently needed during use; and ironing failures require immediate shutdown or rework. Therefore, the flatwork ironer requires personnel to be on duty and operate it throughout the entire process, with relatively high use and maintenance demands.
Fourthly, the energy demand differs. The flatwork ironer is a major energy consumer in the laundry. Different types of flatwork ironers, installation methods, and maintenance approaches can lead to significant differences in energy consumption. Improper selection or use can easily cause unnecessary waste.
From this, it is clear that compared to other types of equipment, mastering the correct use and maintenance methods of the flatwork ironer is extremely important. Due to customers' high expectations for the capacity of flatwork ironing, its installation, use, and maintenance become even more critical.
