1. Classification by different processing methods
(1) Woven fabric: Fabric made by interlacing two systems of yarns arranged perpendicularly, i.e., weft and warp, on a loom according to certain rules. Examples include denim, brocade satin, barathea, and linen yarn.
(2) Knitted fabric: Fabric formed by knitting yarns into loops, divided into weft knitting and warp knitting. a. Weft knitted fabric is made by feeding the weft yarns horizontally into the working needles of the knitting machine, bending the yarns into loops in sequence and interlocking them. b. Warp knitted fabric is made by feeding one or several sets of parallel yarns longitudinally into all the working needles of the knitting machine simultaneously to form loops.
(3) Non-woven fabric: Made by bonding or stitching loose fibers. Currently, bonding and needle punching are the main methods used. This processing method greatly simplifies the production process, reduces costs, improves labor productivity, and has broad development prospects.
2. Classification by yarn raw materials constituting the fabric
(1) Pure textile fabric: Fabric made from the same type of fiber, such as cotton fabric, wool fabric, silk fabric, polyester fabric, etc.
(2) Blended fabric: Fabric made from yarns spun from two or more different types of fibers, such as polyester-viscose, polyester-acrylic, polyester-cotton blended fabrics.
(3) Mixed fabric: Fabric made from yarns formed by combining single yarns of two different fibers into plied yarns, such as low-elastic polyester filament blended with medium-long fibers, or polyester staple fiber blended with low-elastic polyester filament into plied yarns.
(4) Interwoven fabric: Fabric whose two directional yarn systems are made from different fiber yarns, such as antique satin interwoven with silk and rayon, or nylon and rayon interwoven in Nifufang fabric.
3. Classification by whether the raw materials constituting the fabric are dyed
(1) Grey fabric: Fabric made from undyed raw materials, also called raw goods in silk weaving.
(2) Dyed fabric: Fabric made from dyed raw materials or fancy yarns, also called finished goods in silk weaving.
4. Classification of novel fabrics
(1) Bonded fabric: Fabric made by bonding two pieces of fabric back to back. The bonded fabrics can be woven, knitted, non-woven, vinyl plastic films, etc., and can be combined in various ways.
(2) Flocked fabric: Fabric covered with short and dense fiber piles, having a velvet style, used for clothing and decoration.
(3) Foam plastic laminated fabric: Fabric made by adhering foam plastic to woven or knitted base fabric, mostly used for cold-proof clothing.
(4) Coated fabric: Fabric coated on woven or knitted base fabric with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), neoprene rubber, etc., featuring excellent waterproof performance.
