The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security issued the "Notice on the Work Arrangement of the 2011 National Vocational Skills Competition Series Activities" (Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security [2011] No. 107), which made specific arrangements for the 2011 competition activities. The 7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition, as a national level Category II competition, is included. This also marks that the related plan for the 7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition, specifically undertaken by the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce, has been officially approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

       Leather Care Worker Evaluation Work Holds First Joint Meeting
On March 7, the China General Chamber of Commerce Commercial Vocational Skills Appraisal Guidance Center (referred to as the "Appraisal Center") and the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee (referred to as the "Laundry Committee") held the first joint meeting on leather care worker evaluation work. Liu Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of the China General Chamber of Commerce and Director of the Appraisal Center, Pan Wei, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Laundry Committee, and others attended the meeting. The meeting conducted in-depth research on vocational qualification education, training, and appraisal work for leather care workers. The meeting believed that as a newly established occupation, leather care workers have broad development prospects. Promoting this vocational qualification will standardize and promote leather care work in the laundry and dyeing industry. The skill training and qualification appraisal work for this occupation will become an important task for the Appraisal Center and the Laundry Committee in the future. At the same time, the qualification appraisal work for this occupation must be solidly based on fundamentals to help improve the technical quality of practitioners. In the coming period, the following specific tasks will be focused on regarding the vocational qualification appraisal of leather care workers:
First, the Laundry Committee will organize the compilation of the "National Vocational Qualification Training Textbook for Leather Care Workers" and the exam question bank on schedule and with quality according to relevant requirements; second, with the cooperation of the Laundry Committee, the Appraisal Center will gradually establish several vocational skill appraisal stations for laundry workers and leather care workers to ensure the standardization and scale of appraisal work; third, carry out the selection and training of vocational qualification appraisers for leather care workers and establish a qualified appraiser team; fourth, conduct pilot work for the vocational qualification appraisal of leather care workers, striving to issue the first batch of vocational qualification certificates for leather care workers within the year.

The Laundry Committee Participates in the First Standardization Work Meeting of the China General Chamber of Commerce
On April 11, the first standardization work meeting of the China General Chamber of Commerce was held in Beijing. Personnel responsible for standard work from the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce attended the meeting. The meeting first summarized the ten years of standardization work of the China General Chamber of Commerce and put forward opinions on future standardization work, namely: to strengthen research on service standards for the commercial service industry; establish a standard information platform to improve the level of standard services. The meeting invited relevant leaders from the National Standardization Committee to attend and explain the key points of national standardization work in 2011.
The meeting commended the advanced individuals in standardization for 2010-2011. Wang Houzeng, Executive Deputy Director of the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce, was awarded the title of "Advanced Individual in Standardization."

The First National Training Class for Leather Care Worker Appraisers Successfully Held
On March 23, the first national training class for leather care worker appraisers was successfully held in Suzhou with the strong support of the Suzhou Laundry Industry Association. More than one hundred trainees from the laundry and dyeing industry across the country participated in the training. The Preparatory Meeting for the 7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition Held in Suzhou
The preparatory meeting for the 7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition was held in Suzhou on March 20 and 21. More than twenty association leaders and experts from across the country attended the meeting to jointly discuss the competition rules and scoring standards in detail. Participants discussed the six event settings, assessment focuses, and operation methods of the 7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition held from August 4 to 6. Everyone expressed their opinions, and it was finally decided to adopt a simple, practical, and easy-to-operate competition format, assessing commonly used service items and general techniques in production practice. On the basis of ensuring broad participation and feasibility, outstanding technical talents from the production front line will be selected. The draft scoring sheets and review question collections for the six events were also discussed. The meeting also discussed safety regulations and guarantee measures for the competition to ensure it proceeds fairly, justly, and openly.

The Luxury Leather Care Technology Exchange Conference Will Be Held on May 26 in Shanghai
To adapt to the continuous growth of the domestic luxury leather goods market and the increasing related care incidents, the China Business Federation Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee will hold the "2011 National (Shanghai) Luxury Leather Goods Care Technology Exchange and Demonstration Conference" in Shanghai from May 26 to 27. The exchange will focus on luxury leather goods cleaning and care, providing participants with a broad communication platform to further enhance the industry's luxury leather care technology. The conference invites nationally renowned leather care experts to give special lectures, share professional care and treatment experiences for luxury leather goods, and introduce more practical technical information.

This marks the establishment of the Laundry and Dyeing Committee's leather care professional information platform and takes a solid step forward in promoting the new leather care profession.
