Beijing's permanent resident population is 21.148 million
In 2013, Beijing's GDP grew by 7.7% year-on-year, CPI rose by 3.3% year-on-year, the city's permanent resident population was 21.148 million, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 40,321 yuan, and the per capita GDP was equivalent to 15,052 US dollars.
On January 23, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics and the Beijing Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics released the "2013 Citywide Economic Operation Situation." In 2013, Beijing's GDP growth rate was the same as the previous year, with a total regional GDP of 1.95006 trillion yuan.
Regarding consumer prices, in 2013, the CPI rose by 3.3% year-on-year, the same increase as the previous year. Among them, consumer prices rose by 1.9%, food prices rose by 4.7%, down 1.9 percentage points from the previous year; housing prices rose by 5.6%, up 1.7 percentage points from the previous year.
Regarding residents' per capita income, in 2013, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in the city was 40,321 yuan, an increase of 10.6% over the previous year. After deducting price factors, the actual increase was 7.1%; the per capita net income of rural residents was 18,337 yuan, an increase of 11.3% over the previous year. After deducting price factors, the actual increase was 7.7%.
Under the policy background of "controlling population size," the latest citywide population statistics were also released. At the end of 2013, the city's permanent resident population was 21.148 million, an increase of 455,000 over the previous year-end, with the year-on-year growth rate dropping by 0.3 percentage points. Among them, the permanent migrant population was 8.027 million.
Beijing's population has grown steadily over the past three years, but the growth rate has slowed in recent years. Specifically, the permanent resident population growth rates were 5.5% in 2010, 2.9% in 2011, 2.5% in 2012, and 2.2% in 2013.
Experts believe that the continuous slowdown in population growth over three years is related to the slowdown in economic growth. Since 2011, as GDP growth slowed, population growth also slowed accordingly.
Another reason is the change in employment structure. Employment in labor-intensive industries declined in 2013, with decreases in employment in accommodation, catering, residential services, and manufacturing.
Permanent population increased by 6.22 million in 10 years
According to data from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, the Beijing Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, and the "Beijing Statistical Yearbook," the permanent resident population of Beijing was 14.927 million in 2004, increasing to 21.148 million in 2013. Over 10 years, Beijing's permanent resident population increased by 6.221 million, of which the permanent migrant population increased by 4.729 million.
Based on average calculations, Beijing's permanent resident population increases by 1,704 people daily, and the permanent migrant population increases by 1,296 people daily.
After 2008, Beijing's population growth rate declined year by year, but the increase in the permanent migrant population consistently accounted for a high proportion of the city's total permanent population increase. In 2008, 2009, and 2010, this proportion exceeded 80%, making the influx of migrants the main factor in Beijing's rapid population growth.
