 —— Tianjin Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association Held the Second Meeting of Presidents, Secretaries-General, and Special Committee Directors in 2019

       On the 10th of this month, the Tianjin Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association held the second meeting of presidents, secretaries-general, and special committee directors in 2019 to review the main work done this year, clarify the key tasks for the next phase, and steadily promote the implementation of two new local standards: "Service Requirements for Front Desk Laundry Collection Personnel" and "Public Textile Cleaning Specifications for the Laundry Industry."

       At the meeting, Chen Qijun, President of the Tianjin Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association, summarized the main work of the association this year from five aspects on behalf of the association. First, strengthening the foundation by further enhancing the association's basic construction and deeply understanding industry development trends. One, the association held a work station meeting in Wuqing District at the beginning of the year, listening to reports from the Beichen, Development Zone, and Wuqing work stations, and jointly researching and exploring new paths for enterprise development with attendees. Two, an industry expert symposium was held to carefully listen to experts' opinions and suggestions on industry development and to formulate the "Organizational System of the Expert Committee of Tianjin Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association." Three, in May, a self-service laundry symposium was held to discuss the development prospects of new business models. Four, to strengthen safety production, the "Safety Officer Job Responsibilities" for enterprise stores were formulated. Five, combined with the peak season of laundry business, a "Notice on Further Strengthening the Implementation of Service Standards in Tianjin Laundry Industry" was issued. Six, in-depth research on industry development trends was conducted, completing statistical work for the municipal information center and the "2018 Tianjin Laundry Industry Analysis Report." Seven, according to the requirements of the China Laundry Committee, the Tianjin Laundry Training Center was established, five training sites were identified after investigation, and 22 professional technical personnel with teaching qualifications were initially trained. Second, increasing contact with relevant departments to strive for greater space for the development of the laundry industry. One, in April, participated in a symposium held by the Tianjin Ecological Environment Bureau, focusing on introducing the current situation of the Tianjin laundry industry and the difficulties faced in industry adjustment, seeking full attention in decision-making by leaders at all levels. Two, in April, participated in the 2019 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Laundry Industry Coordinated Development Forum, accepted a video interview and key speech by the conference organizing committee, emphasizing that laundry industry practitioners are also striving to change business concepts, adapt to national environmental policies, apply new technologies, equipment, and chemicals, reduce production costs, and provide high-quality services to consumers. Currently, the laundry industry generally faces safety issues, which is a long-standing important problem troubling practitioners and consumers. Three, in May, as a representative of Tianjin industry associations, participated in a symposium on creating a law-based business environment held by the Municipal Party Committee's Comprehensive Law-based Governance Committee, emphasizing the importance of operating according to laws and regulations and receiving praise from attendees. Third, combined with the promotion and implementation activities of the two local standards "Service Requirements for Front Desk Laundry Collection Personnel" and "Public Textile Cleaning Specifications for the Laundry Industry," and fully implementing the "Tianjin Civilized Behavior Promotion Regulations" and the "Beautiful Language" special campaign carried out by the Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Municipal Civilization Office, to promote the in-depth development of the Tianjin laundry industry's integrity service demonstration unit creation activities. Fourth, Spring Festival condolences to veteran members of the association. Fifth, the party branch of the association has made new progress in party building work. The party branch requires all party members to improve political positioning and be Communist Party members who understand rules and abide by discipline. Through careful study of the "Opinions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Strengthening the Party's Political Construction" and the "Regulations on Education and Management of Communist Party Members," and conducting the party class education "Rules and Integrity—The Foundation of Conduct," it further emphasized that party members, politically, must adhere to party principles and be loyal to the party. They must strictly follow the party constitution, the central committee's guidelines, policies, and resolutions, safeguard the authority of the central committee, and internalize and externalize the obligations and rights of party members. From the industry perspective, rules and integrity are also indispensable in business services. The attitude, philosophy, and conscience of practitioners are our sincerity and credit towards customers.

       In the summary, President Chen closely linked reality and used detailed data to objectively and systematically analyze the industry's development trends. He said: As a traditional service industry, the laundry industry has shown a steady development trend in Tianjin through continuous technological transformation and innovation in service models. Currently, there are six prominent problems in the industry: (1) The entire industry faces upgrades in equipment, technology, environmental protection, and modern management capabilities. (2) Washing costs continue to rise. (3) Talent shortage. (4) Adjusting and innovating business strategies is difficult. (5) Laundry quality is unstable, and standards for complaints and dispute resolution need improvement. (6) Due to environmental air pollution control, operating costs have increased significantly, and some enterprises with non-compliant emissions of waste gas and wastewater have been forced to shut down. He predicted industry development trends: First, Tianjin's laundry service market is still in a rapid development period, and after industry adjustment, it is expected to enter a period of rapid growth. Second, influenced by strategies such as vigorously developing the private economy, the Tianjin laundry industry will undergo significant changes in the next five to ten years, with leaps in laundry equipment, detergents, and technology, greatly improving economic benefits. Third, advocating technological progress to lead the industry toward environmentally friendly and economical development, achieving technological transformation while moving toward intensive and park-based development. Fourth, the laundry industry will develop toward technology and environmental protection. Fifth, with the development of internet and IoT technologies, the "online booking" business model will rapidly develop.

       After the summary, President Chen further clarified the association's key tasks for the second half of the year.

       First, focus on the promotion and implementation of the new "local standards." Centered on the theme "Service · Health," further implement the two new local standards to promote the standardized development of the city's laundry industry. Second, actively organize participation in the 11th National Laundry Industry Skills Competition, striving for good results to bring honor to Tianjin's laundry industry. Third, carry out training work according to the requirements of the China Laundry Committee. Fourth, further improve party building work and enhance the service and management level of party members.

      Finally, Guo Jidong, Chairman of Beijing Riguang Fine (Group), shared two insights based on his company's development. For a company to develop, it must strengthen its understanding of the market; as a company, it must first conduct careful and thorough market research. Secondly, it must determine the basic direction of development. The key is to have a scientific and reasonable positioning of itself to avoid ineffective investment. Additionally, the capacity of linen washing enterprises is excessive; while strengthening industry management, communication and coordination with other associations should be enhanced to secure sources of goods.

       Eighteen presidents, secretaries-general, and special committee directors attended the meeting.
