Brand Story:
In 1893, founder Alfred Dunhill took over his father's leather shop on Duke Street in London (specializing in saddlery, horse blankets, stables supplies for travelers), marking a milestone in Dunhill's century-long development. Alfred was visionary; he abandoned the traditional workshop model, continuously expanded retail business, and tried to specialize in selling high-quality products, making "practical, reliable, steady, combining unique creativity and extraordinary craftsmanship" the brand philosophy Dunhill has adhered to for over a hundred years.
Dunhill has always insisted on completing all products with innovative design, high-quality materials, and exquisite craftsmanship. Dunhill's traditional British gentleman image is also loved by political and business figures, including royal members such as the Duke of Windsor and Elvis Presley. Currently, Dunhill's full product line is sold in twenty-four countries and regions worldwide.
Alfred Dunhill himself was a true British gentleman, passionately obsessed with speed, precision, and tobacco throughout his life. This British man was stubborn, talented, a business genius, as well as a pianist and skilled driver. Throughout his life, he miraculously possessed both a brilliant career and a high-quality lifestyle.
To meet the booming automobile trend in the market, Dunhill also launched a high-end automotive accessories series—Dunhill Motorities. From Alfred Dunhill opening his first automotive accessories specialty store over a hundred years ago to sponsoring international motor racing events in the early 21st century, this fearless adventurous spirit runs through Dunhill's entire development history and shapes its style and characteristics. This adventurous spirit combined with a unique insight into luxury has created Dunhill's brilliance today.
In 1903, Dunhill launched the dashboard clock, which became Dunhill's first timing instrument. In 1904, Alfred Dunhill opened the first store on Euston Road in London, providing "all related accessories except the automobile itself" for Edwardian motorists. Just three years later, Alfred Dunhill opened a store on St. James's Duke Street.
Always adventurous and eager for excitement, Alfred Dunhill was not satisfied with his current success and began to explore other fields. From horse racing, cricket, tobacco pipes, leather goods, gentleman's clothing, watches, perfumes to all the clever little gadgets a man needs, his business philosophy was "The success I have achieved in automotive accessories also proves that if our products can fully meet the expectations of the upper class, then profit is only a matter of time. Moreover, compared to excellent quality, price is not so important." After World War I, Dunhill established its preferred position in tobacco and pipes.
The Dunhill Facet watch launched in 1936 has become a classic Dunhill watch design. On April 17, 1941, with a loud explosion, the store on St. James's Duke Street was severely bombed but continued to operate as usual. Today, Dunhill's flagship store at 48 Jermyn Street is built on this old site. In 1956, the Rollagas lighter was introduced, not only the world's first butane high-end lighter but also a classic. In the following years, Dunhill expanded its product line to include sports goods and aviation products (Avorities) series, designing and producing clothing and equipment for aviation pilots.
Men seem to love Dunhill's cigars, watches, pens, stationery, and perfumes. Dunhill has gradually become a world-renowned fashion brand offering a variety of different accessories, and its products have thus gained enduring vitality and life. Dunhill has become a top international brand in men's products.
