Brand Story:
Gianni Versace (Zhānní Fàn Sīzhé), the founder of Versace (Fàn Sīzhé), was born on December 2, 1946, in Reggio Calabria, a southern Italian port city. From a young age, he absorbed both the theory and practical skills of ready-to-wear design while working alongside his mother, who was a seamstress. At the age of nine, with his mother's assistance, he completed his first creation—a velvet one-shoulder dress. In 1972, he was invited to work at the Florentine Flowers garment factory in Lucca. He established his own company in 1978, opened the Atelier Versace haute couture boutique in 1989, entered the Paris fashion scene, and was fatally shot in the United States in 1997.
Versace's fashion products have permeated every aspect of life.
Gianni Versace's brother and sister have always been his golden partners in business. His brother's careful and prudent financial management and his sister's flexible and capable public relations management have made outstanding contributions to the company's enduring success. In fierce business competition, Versace often adapted to market changes with lightning-fast actions. He could make judgments, organize design, production, and sales in the shortest time, once setting a record by completing the entire process of design, manufacturing, and shipping within five weeks.
Versace won the Cutty Sark Award in 1983, was awarded the Italian "Commandatore" (Republic Award) by the Italian President in 1986, received the "Most Creative Designer Award" from Cutty Sark in 1988, and won the "American International Fashion Designers Association Award" in 1993.
Versace's design style is very distinctive, emphasizing joy and sensuality, with necklines often plunging below the waist. It draws on the luxury and splendor of classical aristocratic styles, fully considering the wearer's comfort while appropriately showcasing the wearer's figure. Versace is skilled at using noble fabrics and employs bias cuts to cleverly transition between rigid geometric lines and soft body curves. Its suits, dresses, and coats all emphasize line and thereby highlight the female form. Additionally, like other Italian designers, Versace combines American sports casual wear with the Italian fashion reverence for luxurious high-end materials, creating a new concept of "elegance." Versace's products cover various leaders, mainly serving clients ranging from royalty and aristocrats to black rock musicians, with diverse identities.
