The CERCLEAN® project, jointly certified by the International Textile Care Network (CINET) and the China Commercial Federation Laundry Professional Committee (CLA), has officially launched in China, with the first batch of certification work starting on September 21.

CERCLEAN® provides the laundry service industry with a complete model for implementing best practices in professional washing and dry cleaning. The project is divided into two main parts: Industrial Textile Service Certification (comprehensive laundries) and Retail Textile Cleaning Certification (various laundries), with special certifications based on health and cleanliness categories (such as hospitals, nursing homes, food industries). The certification process covers optimized workflows, staff development, quality objectives, hazardous material handling, equipment maintenance, service and complaint management, productivity improvement plans, and energy-saving plans.

The CERCLEAN® certification originated over 50 years ago when industrial laundries began cooperating with European healthcare organizations and government agencies to develop certification programs based on ISO9001 and RABC standards (EN14065) from a global perspective. CINET has been committed to spreading knowledge in best practices and continuously improving the project's technology based on industry innovations. Currently, this certification is widely used by European laundries and laundry shops and has been fully transferred technically and procedurally to many countries worldwide. The certification is now professionally managed by an independent committee and recognized by the international certification body TUV NORD. Unlike other certifications, it not only focuses on results but also prescribes and standardizes the existing procedures that laundries and laundry shops must follow during operations, allowing certified enterprises to replicate and design their standardized processes. It can be said that CERCLEAN® is the most authoritative certification in the world today for the textile washing production service field.

In June 2018, a senior study tour organized by the China Laundry Committee visited more than ten well-known laundries/shops in the Netherlands, all of which adopted the CERCLEAN® certification system, attracting close attention from Chinese practitioners. To improve the overall management and operational efficiency of the domestic laundry industry, the China Laundry Committee decided to join forces with CINET to jointly promote this project certification in China. Enterprises that pass the certification can obtain certificates jointly issued by CINET and the China Laundry Committee. It is reported that several enterprises have already started applying for this certification.

After preliminary electronic learning and form filling, on September 21, members of the China Laundry Committee project team and CINET Secretary-General Mr. Leon Wennekes visited Dalian Youbang Laundry Co., Ltd. to conduct certification audits at Youbang's Panjin Road main store, marking the first stop of the joint certification. After a rigorous internal audit, a complete design report was provided to Youbang along with communication on rectification plans. General Manager Kong Xianhong of Dalian Youbang stated that he regards the CERCLEAN® certification as a fast track to improving internal management, as the previous visit to laundries in the Netherlands opened his eyes and deeply made him realize the importance of standardized internal management for enterprise development. During the audit, the existing standardized processes and practical suggestions from auditors also inspired Youbang greatly. Youbang expressed that it will promptly carry out partial rectifications within the factory according to the preliminary audit report and strive to complete the final audit and obtain the certification certificate within 2018.

Currently, the certification has officially started in China, with CINET providing complete technical and system output and responsible for online technical support and final audits; the China Laundry Committee is responsible for domestic organization management and certification work, entrusting Yunwei Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. to specifically execute CERCLEAN® certification consulting. This company was mainly founded by MBA alumni of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and its main leaders have comprehensive experience in the laundry industry, consulting services, and operational management.
