During the Spring Festival holiday, the rapidly spreading novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic has deeply concerned everyone. People across the country are engaging in this smoke-free battle against the epidemic in various ways. Among them, the "retrograders" who bravely stand on the front lines of epidemic prevention in various industries are especially admirable. Today, this article visits Shanghai Shicao, one of the many "retrograders" in the laundry and dyeing industry.
Based on rich frontline experience
Effectively predicting the impact of the epidemic
On the eve of the Spring Festival, Shicao, after deeply summarizing years of frontline medical laundry experience, specially organized the company management to hold an epidemic prevention meeting regarding the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic. They predicted the possible further spread of the epidemic during the holiday and Spring Festival travel peak, initially formulated targeted emergency plans, and supervised their implementation. According to the plan requirements, Shicao strengthened the implementation of factory disinfection management systems, increased disinfection frequency, and promoted and supervised employees' personal and operational contact protection work.

It is understood that since Shicao adopted the piece-rate wage system in 2016, combined with the company's actual production and operation situation, it encourages employees in Shanghai and those returning home for the holiday to coordinate shifts and take staggered vacations to ensure normal operation during the holiday period, addressing the low washing volume period after the Spring Festival holiday. This approach has achieved good results over the past three years, continuously strengthening corporate cohesion and enhancing employees' sense of ownership, maintaining production capacity at about 80% of the peak during the Spring Festival. Therefore, amid the epidemic spread, the company has sufficient emergency response capabilities to handle sudden situations.
Strengthening protective measures to actively respond to the epidemic spread
On the first day of the lunar new year, with the severe development of the epidemic, Shicao's management canceled the leave system and required all staff to be on duty. They held another meeting to upgrade the epidemic prevention plan and raise protection levels. Customer work contact letters were sent to all hospitals served, while frontline receiving and sorting staff in contaminated areas wore protective clothing on duty, shortened hand hygiene intervals, and employees in different areas strictly avoided cross-posting. Special personnel were assigned for management and tracking, and a series of protective measures such as temperature monitoring for employees were implemented. Every effort was made to borrow, purchase, and even procure high-priced masks to ensure employee protection and safe production.
Due to the special nature of the epidemic, all fabrics from fever clinics are disinfected first and then washed using infection fabric washing and disinfection methods, preventing employees from physical contact with the fabrics. For other medical fabrics, washing time is extended and washing temperature increased to ensure post-wash quality, with dedicated personnel tracking bacterial residue after washing.
United as one, determined to fight well
Logistics support and epidemic prevention battle
According to General Manager Chen of Shicao, since the company launched the emergency plan and fully resumed production, on-duty employees have not only improved their awareness of protection and self-protection, greatly enhancing confidence in winning the epidemic prevention battle, but also engaged in production with a more positive and enthusiastic attitude. They all expressed determination to complete production tasks with quality and quantity as required, doing their utmost to support epidemic prevention logistics work.

Since Shicao successfully passed the international standardized operation system certification for the laundry industry (CERCLEAN® certification) in 2019 as one of the first domestic certified companies, the company's precise management and detailed control of production processes have been further improved. Each production link operates according to globally leading industry standards, especially excelling in using scientific technology for washing, strengthening environmentally friendly production, and controlling fabric loss, achieving remarkable results.
Currently, in the medical linen washing work during the epidemic prevention period, one of Shicao's factory areas operates five washing lines plus twelve isolated washing machines in coordination, designating a special isolation area for infectious fabric handling. Washing production strictly follows the "Technical Specifications for Hospital Fabric Washing and Disinfection," ISO9001 quality management system, and other health-related system certification requirements. While ensuring efficient washing quality, it effectively prevents secondary pollution and cross-infection risks caused by washing and transportation of medical infectious fabrics, providing solid logistics support for hospital infection prevention and control.
