The quality inspection report released by the Guangzhou Administration for Industry and Commerce shows that many well-known casual clothing brands such as H&M, Levi's, PLAYBOY, and VEROMODA have substandard quality. This is not the first time H&M's products have been found unqualified. In the second quarter of last year, the Shanghai Quality Supervision Bureau issued a report stating that the pH value of its clothing exceeded the standard.
On August 1st, H&M China's official Weibo revealed that it will have a long-term cooperation with British football star David Beckham to launch the DAVID BECKHAM Bodywear men's underwear series.
Meanwhile, the quality inspection report released by the Guangzhou Administration for Industry and Commerce shows that many well-known casual clothing brands such as H&M, Levi's, PLAYBOY, and VEROMODA have substandard quality.
According to the results of this sampling inspection, the reasons for the substandard quality of many clothing brands lie in the fact that the product's pH value, color fastness, fiber content, and seam slippage degree do not meet the limit values specified in the "National Basic Safety Technical Specification for Textile Products." In addition, there are also two items with unqualified product labels. It is understood that important safety indicators such as pH value and color fastness being unqualified may cause problems such as disrupting the skin's acid-base balance and dye shedding, which can pose certain hazards to the human body.
In response to this incident, H&M (China) told a reporter from the Daily Economic News that the headquarters has not yet formulated a specific plan for this incident, but all the unqualified clothing detected in Guangzhou has been removed from shelves and sales suspended.
Hu Baogang, senior advisor of the Guangdong Garment Association, told reporters that issues such as pH value detected this time are quite common in the clothing industry. Domestic inspections mainly focus on production processes and finished garments, while foreign countries pay more attention to inspections from the perspectives of raw materials and environmental protection. There are differences between domestic and foreign standards.
This is not the first time H&M's products have been found unqualified. In the second quarter of last year, the Shanghai Quality Supervision Bureau issued a report stating that the pH value of its clothing exceeded the standard.
According to reporters, most foreign clothing brands have OEM factories in China. All clothing exported from China to foreign countries must pass strict "standard" audits before they can be sold, but whether many foreign brands entering the domestic market meet domestic quality standards has received little attention and is even a blind spot.
A relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Administration for Industry and Commerce stated that for products judged as substandard in the inspection, distributors have been ordered to remove them from shelves and investigations have been initiated. Operators who repeatedly sell unqualified products will be dealt with according to relevant laws and regulations, and those with serious circumstances will have their business licenses revoked. The industry and commerce department will also supervise distributors to strictly implement the purchase inspection record system and properly handle the return and exchange of unqualified products.
