In recent years, with the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the demand for the care of high-end leather shoes, bags, and other leather goods has been increasing, bringing considerable profits to enterprises. However, due to reasons such as non-standard services, lack of quality assurance, and insufficient understanding of standardized norms by practitioners, disputes over cleaning services have also occurred from time to time. Therefore, issuing corresponding national standards to regulate business operations has become particularly important.
The "Glossy Leather Garment Care Specification" drafted by the Dyeing and Cleaning Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce will be promulgated and implemented soon. This standard specifies the service requirements, quality requirements, packaging, and storage requirements for the care of glossy leather garments. It applies to business service enterprises engaged in cleaning, maintenance, and decoration of glossy leather garments.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration of China issued Announcement No. 19 of 2014: officially approving the release of 123 national standards including "Electrical Insulation Varnishes Part 6: Environmentally Friendly Water-based Impregnation Varnishes." Among them, item 41: "Adhesives for Shoes and Bags" (GB19340—2014) replaces GB 19340-2003. "Adhesives for Shoes and Bags" is a national mandatory standard suitable for enterprises involved in the production, sales, and use of leather chemicals. It specifies the bonding performance, limits of harmful substances, and testing methods for adhesives used in shoes and bags. This standard will be implemented from May 1, 2015.
In future work, the National Dyeing and Cleaning Standardization Technical Committee will cooperate with the Dyeing and Cleaning Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce to focus on improving the leather care standard system, regulate business operations, supervise, inspect, and provide technical guidance to enterprises, improve the service quality of dyeing and cleaning enterprises, protect the legitimate rights and interests of both service parties, reduce disputes in leather care services, protect fair competition among enterprises, and promote the healthy and harmonious development of the industry.
