1. March 3rd is National Dry Cleaning Day in the United States, commemorating Thomas Jennings - the inventor of the dry cleaning process. Thomas became the first African American in U.S. history to receive a patent for an invention at the age of 30 (in 1821) for inventing the dry cleaning process.
2. On March 5th, Anhui Muyang Home Laundry (a member unit of the China Laundry Committee) donated laundry cards worth 50,000 yuan to seven medical institutions in Anqing City to support the anti-epidemic efforts of the frontline medical workers.
3. On March 6th, the first issue of the electronic journal "China Laundry" was officially released; due to the impact of the pandemic, the print version of the first issue of "China Laundry" in 2020 will be delayed until the end of March.
4. On March 10th, the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association (Deputy Director of the China Laundry Committee) issued the Work Guidelines for Resumption of Laundry and Dyeing Services (Second Edition).
5. On March 10th, the Xi'an Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association participated in the Xi'an City Trade and Service Industry Symposium and jointly signed an initiative: to appropriately reduce rent or other fees for tenants who suspended operations or delayed reopening to fight the epidemic.
6. On March 15th, the U.S. Self-Service Laundry Association requested that self-service laundries remain open and provide necessary services to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
7. On March 15th, the Shandong Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association (an executive member unit of the China Laundry Committee) together with laundry enterprises across the province donated laundry cards worth 4.2 million yuan. More than 80 enterprises participated, with about 150 service outlets, expressing condolences to medical staff and their families.
8. On March 15th, the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association (Deputy Director of the China Laundry Committee) successfully held the Shanghai Laundry and Dyeing Industry Integrity Service Signing Ceremony.
9. On March 19th, the General Office of the Ministry of Commerce, the General Office of the National Development and Reform Commission, and the General Office of the National Health Commission jointly issued the "Notice on Supporting the Resumption of Business for Trade and Circulation Enterprises," requiring local governments to provide conditions for the full resumption of operations for laundry and other enterprises.
10. On March 19th, Zhejiang Finichi (Deputy Director of the Leather Care Office of the China Laundry Committee) was awarded the honor of "Zhejiang Province Trademark Brand Demonstration Enterprise."
11. On March 27th, the China Laundry Committee released the 2019 laundry industry price information, including washing service prices from more than 20 provinces and cities. 12. On March 29th, People's Daily published a special interview article titled "Ordinary Positions, Extraordinary Contributions," praising the laundry industry's selfless social responsibility during the COVID-19 pandemic.
13. The "Textile Professional Treatment Laundry Exhibition" originally scheduled for late June in Frankfurt, Germany, has been postponed to November due to the pandemic, with the specific date to be determined. The China Laundry Committee will adjust the organization of delegations to Germany (Europe) for related inspections according to the situation. Please stay tuned.
