The finals of the "8th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition" were successfully held from August 7 to 10, 2013, at the China International Exhibition Center. The competition attracted 107 contestants from more than 20 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Sichuan, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jilin, Shaanxi, Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guizhou, Hunan, Shandong, Ningxia, Hubei, and Gansu. The competition included six events: "Junping Cup" Front Desk Service, "Elephant King Cup" Stain Removal, "Keyipi Cup" Leather Care, "Phinnis Cup" Leather Goods Maintenance, "Sea Lion Cup" Garment Ironing, and "Zhengzhang Cup" Clothing Mending.
1. The competition preparation meeting and pre-competition briefing were successfully held, with thorough event preparations.
At 1:30 pm on August 7, the competition judges' working meeting was held at Beijing Jingyuan Training Center. Pan Wei, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce, further mobilized the judging work, requiring all judges and staff to perform their duties conscientiously, act impartially, and uphold their mission. Subsequently, appointment letters were issued to the judges participating in the competition. Wang Houzeng, Executive Deputy Director of the Laundry and Dyeing Committee, gave a detailed explanation of the competition arrangements. At 3 pm that day, the pre-competition briefing was held, where Deputy Director Wang Houzeng provided guidance to the contestants to help them better understand the exam process and assessment content.

2. The competition opening ceremony was grandly held, with several leaders present to cheer on the contestants.
On August 8, 2013, the competition opening ceremony was grandly held at the China International Exhibition Center. Liang Zhaoshan, Researcher from the Department of Trade Services and Service Trade of the Ministry of Commerce; Wang Min, Vice President of the China General Chamber of Commerce; Deputy Secretary-General Zhou Jingying; Zhao Lizong, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Commission; Fu Leheng, Deputy Director of the Service Trade Division; and Wang Shuyuan, Director of the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce attended the ceremony. Judges, contestants, and spectators from across the country participated. The ceremony began with a speech by Researcher Liang Zhaoshan, who warmly congratulated the event on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce and encouraged contestants to demonstrate their skills, style, the new image of laundry and dyeing practitioners, and the new expectations of laundry and dyeing services for consumers. Then, representatives of judges and contestants spoke on stage, pledging to compete rigorously and seriously. Leaders attending the event also presented honorary naming gold medals to enterprise representatives who strongly supported the competition, recognizing their contributions. Finally, Vice President Wang Min delivered a speech, stating that honor is not the goal of the competition; the ultimate significance lies in guiding the vast number of laundry and dyeing practitioners in China to diligently study technology, develop professionally, improve the overall quality of industry practitioners, and stimulate their intrinsic motivation to value knowledge, emphasize skills, learn technology, implement standards, and enhance abilities, thereby promoting the healthy and orderly development of China's laundry and dyeing industry. Wang's passionate speech marked the official start of the competition.

3. Contestants competed earnestly, and the assessment site was exciting and splendid.
The theoretical and practical exams of the competition were held successively on the 7th, 8th, and 9th. On the afternoon of the 7th, the theoretical exam was held at Beijing Jingyuan Training Center, with a quiet and disciplined exam environment. Under the supervision of national-level judges, all contestants completed the theory test papers in sections. On the 8th and 9th, at the China International Exhibition Center competition site, practical exams were conducted for six events: leather goods maintenance, garment ironing, clothing mending, front desk service, stain removal, and leather care. The two-day competition attracted nearly a thousand spectators from across the country to observe.

After the competition, judges provided technical evaluations on-site. Their professional knowledge and precise comments won rounds of applause from contestants and spectators, achieving a good effect of technical exchange.

4. The award ceremony was grandly held, and all honors were well deserved.
On the morning of August 10, the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 8th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition were grandly held. Attendees included An Huimin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce; Jia Weiyi, Director of the Competition Division of the China Employment Training Technical Instruction Center; Wang Shuyuan, Director of the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce; Executive Deputy Directors Shu Qi and Wang Houzeng; and Wang Xueran, President of the Beijing Laundry Industry Association. The ceremony was hosted by Pan Wei, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce.

At the award ceremony, the Beijing Laundry Industry Association, Shanghai Laundry Industry Association, Tianjin Laundry Industry Association, Sichuan Laundry Industry Association, Ningxia Laundry Industry Association, Shaanxi Laundry Industry Association, Qingdao Laundry Industry Association, Dalian Laundry Industry Association, Hangzhou Laundry Industry Association, and Beijing Hanhwang Weiye Group received the Excellent Organization Award; six representatives with outstanding results received the National Laundry Industry Technical Expert Honor Certificates; third-place winners Zhang Xiaoqing, Xing Zhenxin, Li Yingchun, Hao Jianfeng, Yuan Xiaocong, and Yu Xianzhi; second-place winners He Yanrong, Li Hao, Jin Shuai, Tao Guoqi, Guan Fengchun, and Lu Xinlei; and first-place winners Xu Yanmei, Wang Yaling, Yin Jianzhou, Dai Xuyu, Yu Guoping, and Jiang Liping were awarded certificates, trophies, and medals respectively. Meanwhile, to recognize outstanding enterprises for their contributions to talent cultivation, the competition specially established the "Talent Cultivation Contribution Award," which was awarded to six companies: Dalian Cupid Laundry Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Kabo Laundry Co., Ltd., Shanghai First Siberian Leather Goods Center, Wenzhou Phinnis Leather Goods Decoration Technology Development Co., Ltd., Shanghai Zhengzhang Laundry Co., Ltd., and Qingdao Jieshen Laundry Co., Ltd.
The holding of the competition increased technical exchanges among laundry and dyeing enterprises and practitioners, played an important role in guiding the vast number of laundry and dyeing practitioners to diligently study technology, develop professionally, improve the overall quality of industry practitioners, and strengthen technical exchanges between China and abroad. It sparked a trend of on-the-job technical training and service quality improvement, positively contributing to high-quality service in the laundry and dyeing industry.
