Deputy Secretary-General Xue Dapeng, Yang Ze, Wang Jidong, Chen Aihua, and Xia Xiaoyun of the Laundry Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce were present. The meeting was hosted by Deputy Secretary-General Xue Dapeng of the Laundry Committee and was conducted in two parts: the first half was a symposium organized by the Ministry of Commerce, and the second half was a work meeting organized by the Laundry Committee.
During the first half of the meeting, Researcher Liang Zhaoshan from the Service Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce first explained the revised industry management measures of the Ministry of Commerce and the basic work ideas from four aspects. Subsequently, the representatives discussed topics including the development status of the industry in their regions and enterprises, business conditions, existing conflicts and problems, industry development policies, and suggestions for government and Laundry Committee work. The issues raised included: environmental protection challenges in the laundry industry, rising rents, labor difficulties, lack of a national development plan for the industry, existence of vicious competition in the laundry market, the need for unified guidance pricing, insufficient communication between the laundry industry and government departments such as industry and commerce, taxation, and environmental protection, resulting in some environmental policies being unenforceable in the industry, increasing operating costs, irregular dispute resolution methods, low social status of the laundry industry with insufficient government care, incomplete legal and standard construction, scarce talent training sources especially due to the lack of plans by national education departments for laundry-related colleges, and the need for the state to emphasize support for industry associations in task assignment, funding guarantees, and role fulfillment. The leaders of the Service Trade Department listened patiently and humbly to everyone's opinions and suggestions, showing sincere communication and concern for the grassroots, gaining an understanding of the real situation and main problems of the laundry industry, especially the policies, management, and support work that require serious government assistance and coordination, the use of association organizations, long-term industry planning, and the importance of raising the status of the laundry industry. Deputy Director Wang Huiying of the Service Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce gave four instructions based on the speeches. This was the first successful dialogue between the Ministry of Commerce and laundry industry leaders.
The second half of the meeting involved listening to the work report from the Secretariat of the Laundry Committee and studying the key points for the next phase of association work. The main arrangements included a work report and deployment by Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General Pan Wei of the Laundry Committee, discussion of the 2014 work plan of the Laundry Committee, and a summary speech by Vice President Wang Qinhua of the China General Chamber of Commerce. The representatives unanimously agreed with the current work of the Laundry Committee and the seven key tasks planned for 2014.
Looking over the entire Leaders Summit, it demonstrated a fresh style, a clear theme, free expression, accurate identification of industry problems, thorough cause analysis, sincere and practical suggestions and opinions that meet the actual needs of industry development, early and swift action on next year's industry development planning, and unified and timely leadership thinking. Especially, the national government departments heard what they wanted to hear, learned the information they wanted to know, and enhanced the emotional connection with the grassroots, laying a foundation for future industry development. Therefore, everyone said: the industry leaders summit became a symposium, a forum for discussing difficult problems, an exchange of ideas, and a meeting for unified and coordinated action. Such a pragmatic meeting narrowed the distance between government departments and grassroots units; it was a face-to-face, heart-to-heart communication meeting, a practical meeting where people dared to speak the truth, openly present problems, and propose industry policy demands. For an industry leadership level, the greatest wish is that the government departments hear the problems encountered and are willing to seriously solve them; for grassroots units and leaders, the greatest wish is that their development bottlenecks are understood and recognized. Facing industry development difficulties and problems, an individual or enterprise may feel anxious and uneasy, but for a level or collective, as long as everyone is united, no difficulty is insurmountable! It is believed that through this summit, the difficulties and problems faced by the laundry industry will be further resolved, government policies will be more pragmatic, the leadership collective of the laundry industry will be more united, actions will be more conscious and consistent, and the bright and confident prospects of this emerging industry will be even better!
