Hefei should establish a laundry industry association

In recent days, the newspaper's continuous reports on "Uncovering Dry Cleaners" have caused a huge response in society. Yesterday, reporters contacted the China Commercial Federation's Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee. Regarding the current situation of the laundry industry in Hefei, the committee's secretary-general called for: "The establishment of a laundry industry association in Hefei is imminent."
Family-style laundry shops face survival difficulties
Master Liang is 46 years old this year and runs a laundry shop at the intersection of Huizhou Avenue and Taihu Road in the provincial capital. "For small laundry shops like ours, survival is quite tough," said Master Liang.
Master Liang introduced that his shop has little competitiveness compared to large chain laundry shops. To improve laundry skills, Master Liang once wanted to learn more advanced techniques. Unfortunately, Hefei has no industry association providing technical assistance, so he can only find reference materials online or spend money to study in other places.
"Opening a laundry shop is a way to start a business," said Master Liang. "I hope Hefei can have its own laundry industry association, which can regulate the market and also provide some support to small laundry shops like ours."
Hefei's laundry industry is not very developed
Yesterday morning, reporters contacted the China Commercial Federation's Laundry and Dyeing Professional Committee. Pan Wei, the committee's executive deputy director and secretary-general, told reporters, "According to our understanding, there are currently 400 to 600 laundry shops in Hefei (some of which are unregistered). Considering Hefei's population and income level, this number is relatively small." Pan Wei said, "Overall, Hefei's laundry industry is still underdeveloped and has much room for growth." Establishing an industry association is very necessary. Pan Wei told reporters that establishing a laundry industry association in Hefei is very necessary and urgent: "A city having its own laundry industry association can improve the development level of the laundry industry in the entire region. Because the industry association can cooperate with government departments to regulate and manage the laundry industry, and it is also very helpful in improving the quality of practitioners."
At the same time, Pan Wei pointed out that establishing a laundry industry association also has a positive effect on rights protection. "The rights protection mentioned here has two parts: one is consumer rights protection, and the other is merchant rights protection," said Pan Wei. "The industry association can assist in handling laundry disputes between consumers and merchants. If consumers engage in 'improper rights protection,' merchants and practitioners can also get support from the association."
Regarding the regulation of Hefei's laundry industry, Pan Wei told reporters that besides making large chain laundry shops more standardized and institutionalized, there should also be a supportive attitude towards small family workshop-style laundry shops. "Citizens open laundry shops mainly for employment. Instead of raising the entry threshold, it is better to improve their quality," said Pan Wei.
