On May 5, 2018, at Guangzhou Tiantian Laundry's Zengcheng Park, a spontaneously gathered learning forum on "Standardization of China's Laundry and Dyeing Industry" was held in full swing. "It is no exaggeration to say that half of the elites in the entire Chinese laundry and dyeing industry are here!".
In fact, the original intention of this meeting was not to study standardization. After the announcement in March by the Laundry Standardization Committee about the "2018 National Laundry Standardization Work Conference and the Second National Laundry Standardization Technical Committee Re-election Meeting" scheduled for May 5 in Guangzhou, many industry units showed great interest, expressing support for industry standardization and a desire to learn about standards and understand the future trends of industry standardization development. "To meet everyone's enthusiasm for learning, the Laundry Standardization Committee specially postponed the meeting time, carefully adjusted the content, shortened the meeting activities, and added a series of training related to standards, turning one meeting into a grand standard lecture forum," said Ms. Feng Jinna, Secretary-General of the Laundry Standardization Committee.
The "Laundry Standardization Committee" is the abbreviation for the National Laundry Standardization Technical Committee (TC520), established in 2011, a national technical organization engaged in standardization work in the laundry and dyeing field. , It undertakes the technical management work of standardization in the laundry and dyeing industry. It is mainly responsible for the formulation (revision) of basic standards in the laundry and dyeing industry, including business management, service specifications, technical requirements, and laundry quality requirements, as well as the domestic counterpart work of the corresponding technical committees of the International Organization for Standardization.
Speaking of the advantages of standard formulation, the current progress of standards, and future development ideas, Mr. Pan Wei, Director of the Laundry Standardization Committee, spoke with great familiarity. He stated: "Compared with developed countries and regions, China's laundry and dyeing industry standard system still has a large gap; however, in recent years, due to the rapid development of the laundry and dyeing industry, strengthening research on the laundry and dyeing industry standardization system and establishing a complete and scientific laundry standard system has become particularly important. The government departments also attach great importance to this. The Ministry of Commerce has successively issued the 'Laundry Industry Management Measures' and some industry standards, and local industry authorities have also issued multiple local standards.
At this meeting, Mr. Yang Zeshi, Director of the Service Industry Standards Department of the National Standardization Committee, personally attended. Shocked by "seeing such an advanced and standardized modern laundry factory like Guangzhou Tiantian for the first time," Director Yang extended his speech time and gave a detailed explanation of the difficulties that laundry industry standardization may face, the benefits brought by standardization, and the bright prospects of standardization in the development of the laundry industry.
The awareness of standardization work is continuously strengthening. For the laundry and dyeing industry to advance, honest operation and standardized development have become a consensus among industry insiders. The guests present, besides those serving in management departments, laundry enterprises, local associations, related industry organizations, and research units as members of the Laundry Standardization Committee, were mostly senior executives from major laundry-related enterprises nationwide who came voluntarily; the Sichuan Provincial Industry Association also organized a study group of more than 20 people.
"Enterprises need standardized management and even more need standards to identify, evaluate, and recognize products and services! Because we are already standardized ourselves, we hope to have standards to help us get recognized, so that we can better demonstrate our advantages; even if there are currently areas that do not meet the standards, standards can give us a direction for improvement," said several enterprise leaders on site. It is reported that on June 1 and July 1 this year, two major standards related to public textiles safety—the industry standard "Public Textile Cleaning Service Specification" and the national standard "Public Textile Cleaning Quality Requirements"—will be officially implemented.
To live up to the learning expectations of so many attendees, the Laundry Standardization Committee also put great effort into training arrangements. Regarding the methodology of standard formulation, the Committee invited two experts from the China National Institute of Standardization: one shared in detail the "key points and procedures of standard formulation and revision," and the other explained in detail the "establishment of enterprise standard systems and international standards," explaining everything from principles to implementation to the guests. Meanwhile, the Committee also invited three industry experts from Funait, Shanghai Hangxing, and Guangzhou Laundry and Washing Industry Association, who have many years of experience practicing industry standards, to share their practices, insights, and reflections on standard formulation.
Regarding the re-election of the second Laundry Standardization Committee and the smooth progress of this laundry industry standardization event, Mr. Pan Wei, Chairman of the Laundry Standardization Committee, repeatedly expressed his gratitude: the Committee's work promotion relies on the drive of industry awareness and the initiative and actions of industry practitioners themselves. On site, a group of enterprises and individuals who performed excellently in standardization practice also received special recognition from the National Laundry Standardization Committee. At the meeting, Director Pan sincerely expressed three hopes: first, that Committee members take industry standardization and standardized development as their responsibility; second, that member units become models of industry standardization; and third, that every attendee today can become a promoter of industry standardization.
At the end of his speech, Mr. Pan Wei, Chairman of the National Laundry Standardization Committee, solemnly called on the guests present: The era of standardization in China's laundry and dyeing industry has arrived. Let us work together tirelessly for the standardized development of China's laundry and dyeing industry!
