Speech by Deputy Director Wan Lianpo of the Ministry of Commerce at the Opening Ceremony of the 7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Skills Competition
From August 4 to 6, 2011, the 12th China International Laundry Industry Exhibition was grandly held at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. This exhibition gathered the latest and most advanced laundry and dry-cleaning technologies, equipment, raw materials, detergents, as well as related services such as laundry chain franchising, rental laundry services, and laundry room design and construction from both domestic and international participants. Nearly 10,000 square meters of exhibition space attracted many well-known brand enterprises including the United States' Alliance, Huebsch, SpeedQueen, Cissell, UniMac, Hoffman-NewYorker, GEP, Milliken; Japan's TotoFolder, Sankosha, Yamamoto, YAC, NihonSealing, San-ai; the United Kingdom's Andrew, Micross; Germany's Bufa, Ecotex, Cohen; France's Wistar; Spain's Higiensec, Unisec; Belgium's IPSO; Italy's Fenice, Ilsa; Australia's Stelco; Portugal's Tamfelt; South Korea's InnoClean; Hong Kong's Qilixing; Taiwan's Yingelan; Hangxing, Weishi, Little Swan, Meilianlihua, Zhongshi, Shenguang, Tuopuli, Jiefeng, Oasis, Youbang, Sanhe Huijie, Riguang, Weili and many other well-known brand enterprises participated.

Today, the "7th National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition" is grandly held here. This is a grand event for the national laundry and dyeing industry. On behalf of the Service Trade and Commercial Service Department of the Ministry of Commerce, I warmly congratulate the holding of this event!
The "National Laundry and Dyeing Industry Vocational Skills Competition" has been successfully held six times, receiving strong support from all sectors of society and widespread attention from domestic and foreign laundry and dyeing industry professionals. Through the skills competition, a platform is provided for laundry and dyeing practitioners to showcase their skills, creating good opportunities for learning and communication. It is an effective way to guide enterprises and practitioners to diligently study technology, improve service skills, conduct on-the-job training, continuously challenge themselves, and innovate bravely. It is of great significance for improving the quality and level of industry services and promoting the sound and rapid development of the laundry and dyeing industry.
The laundry and dyeing industry is an important part of the commercial service industry, a vital livelihood service industry that benefits, facilitates, and serves the people. The Ministry of Commerce, as the national management department of the laundry and dyeing industry, has always attached great importance to and supported the development of the laundry and dyeing industry. It has successively issued the "Laundry and Dyeing Industry Management Measures," "Guiding Opinions on Further Developing the Laundry and Dyeing Industry," and related industry standards, promoting the standardized development of the laundry and dyeing industry. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of people's consumption levels and changes in lifestyle concepts and consumption habits, the laundry and dyeing industry has increasingly become an indispensable service industry in people's lives, an important force in expanding consumption, absorbing employment, improving people's quality of life, and promoting economic development and social harmony and progress. According to preliminary estimates, by the end of 2010, the number of employees in China's laundry and dyeing industry had reached 1.25 million, with an annual turnover of about 60 billion yuan. The laundry and dyeing industry has developed rapidly, the market scale has continuously expanded, service capabilities have gradually improved, industry standards have become increasingly standardized, the quality of practitioners has continuously improved, and association organizations have been continuously improved, playing an increasingly significant role. The Laundry Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce has done a lot of effective work in cooperating with government departments, strengthening industry standardization, conducting industry technical exchanges and skills competitions, and promoting the healthy development of the laundry and dyeing industry. We fully affirm this.
The development of the laundry and dyeing industry cannot be separated from the hard work and pioneering innovation of the vast number of laundry and dyeing practitioners. Finally, nearly 142 contestants selected to participate in this national final are high-end technical talents recommended and selected through local preliminary competitions. We hope you will demonstrate your skills, style, and the good image of the laundry and dyeing industry.
The Fifth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee and the national "12th Five-Year" development plan have put forward clear requirements for accelerating the development of livelihood service industries and transforming the mode of economic development. We hope that all colleagues in the laundry and dyeing industry will continue to work hard, make progress, and promote the standardized and modern development of the laundry and dyeing industry.
