The first China International Laundry Festival covers three main events: the 2009 (10th) China International Laundry Industry Exhibition, the 2009 International Laundry Industry Conference, and the 6th National Laundry Industry Vocational Skills Competition. Through the exhibition, the festival introduces and showcases the development achievements of China's laundry industry in technology, equipment, and operations to domestic and foreign peers; through the industry conference, it exchanges and learns advanced international laundry industry experiences, discusses major issues of common concern in management, operations, and services between Chinese and foreign laundry industries, aiming to reach consensus and form a basic framework for global laundry industry strategic cooperation, effectively promoting the scientific development of the international laundry industry; through the competition, it promotes the skill levels of industry practitioners to better serve consumers.
From September 9 to 11, the 10th China International Laundry Industry Exhibition was held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Hall, with participation from more than 150 well-known brands from 12 countries and regions including China, the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. The exhibition area exceeded 6,000 square meters, with nearly 200 booths, and professional visitors exceeded 3,000.
From September 8 to 10, the International Laundry Industry Conference was held at the China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. With the purpose of exchange, cooperation, win-win, and development, the conference further consolidated and deepened the connections among laundry industries of various countries through enhanced dialogue, exchange, and cooperation, providing a platform for increasing mutual benefit exchange and sharing. Nearly 60 guests from countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, Romania, Japan, and South Korea attended, along with about 60 domestic representatives including guests from Taiwan and Hong Kong. More than a dozen domestic and foreign expert representatives delivered wonderful speeches. The conference also formed a consensus on cooperation and development between Chinese and foreign laundry industries, established a common mission and development and implementation plan, and on this basis issued the programmatic document "Beijing Declaration."
The National Laundry Industry Vocational Skills Competition has been included by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security as a national second-class competition. Contestants who win various awards in the finals will receive the national technical expert honorary title, the highest honor for national labor technicians. Years of practice have proven that holding vocational skills competitions is an excellent way to guide enterprises and practitioners to diligently study technology, improve service skills, conduct on-the-job training, continuously surpass themselves, and be courageous in innovation.
This competition was held concurrently and at the same location as the exhibition, featuring five skill competition projects: front desk garment collection, stain removal, garment ironing, clothing mending, and leather care. The competition was divided into practical operation and theoretical knowledge examination. After regional preliminaries and the national finals, more than 140 contestants from 20 teams representing provinces, regions, and large enterprises participated in the national finals.
Through this competition, we are pleased to see that the National Laundry Industry Vocational Skills Competition is becoming a high-standard, most authoritative boutique event and brand event for the entire industry, and the wish of the Laundry Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce to establish a service brand for industry enterprises and organizations is gradually becoming a reality.
To commend veteran experts who have made important contributions to the development of China's laundry industry, and upon recommendations from local laundry industry associations nationwide, the China General Chamber of Commerce specially awarded 10 experts the honorary title of National Laundry Industry Meritorious Figures at the Laundry Festival, and specially produced and issued commemorative stamps and first day covers for the first China International Laundry Festival.
