On May 13, the China Glory Society held a donation ceremony in Beijing, urgently donating the first batch of disaster relief funds amounting to 24.6 million RMB to the Sichuan earthquake disaster area.
The Sichuan earthquake disaster has touched the hearts of people across the country, as well as everyone involved in the Glory Society. Du Qinglin, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, quickly issued instructions. Hu Deping, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department and Vice President of the China Glory Society, urgently convened relevant leaders to make specific work arrangements. Many directors of the Glory Society and private entrepreneurs actively donated. As of the afternoon of the 13th, donations included 10 million RMB from China Oceanwide Holdings Group, 8 million RMB from Chairman Zhang Yin of Nine Dragons Paper Holdings Limited, 1 million RMB from the China Glory Foundation, 1 million RMB from Beijing Kaoshanju Group Company, 500,000 RMB from the Taiwan Business Committee of the China Glory Society, 1 million RMB from Singapore Golden Eagle Group, among others. More directors of the Glory Society and enthusiastic private entrepreneurs continue to contact the China Glory Society and the China Glory Foundation regarding donations.
Nearly one hundred people, including leaders from the United Front Work Department and the China Glory Society, attended this disaster relief donation ceremony. Mr. Huang Jinneng, Executive Committee member of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Vice President of the Taiwan Business Committee of the China Glory Society, and Chairman of Elephant King Laundry Chain, represented the Taiwan Business Committee of the China Glory Society to donate 500,000 RMB to the people in the Sichuan disaster area. He also spoke at the donation ceremony, expressing the sincere care of the Glory Society members to the disaster area people as soon as possible.
