Colleagues in the national laundry and dyeing industry, all laundry machinery manufacturing companies, all washing and disinfection companies, all washing material companies, all dry cleaning chains, all laundries, all hotel laundry departments:
At 14:28 on May 12, 2008, an 8.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Wenchuan area of Sichuan Province, followed by more than twenty aftershocks above magnitude 5. Beichuan, Mianyang, Mianzhu, Qingchuan, Dujiangyan, Shifang, and Jiangyou were all severely affected areas, impacting Shaanxi, Sichuan, Gansu, Yunnan, Guizhou, Chongqing, and even Hebei, Guangdong, Henan, Hunan, Hubei, and Taiwan experienced strong tremors. This was another major natural disaster since the 1976 Tangshan earthquake. Seeing tens of thousands missing, countless houses collapsed, many families displaced, separated from their loved ones, life and death apart. Seeing elderly parents lose their children, seeing innocent children lose their parents, seeing fathers and mothers whose sons and daughters tragically died under rubble... Many compatriots are buried under heavy and chaotic debris and beams... Looking at countless homeless people, the rising casualty numbers, and the ruins at the disaster sites, we all feel infinite pain and sorrow... Premier Wen's kind face and encouraging speech among the disaster victims remain vivid. United as one, overcoming difficulties together, we dedicate our love to the disaster area people, supporting them with all our strength in earthquake relief. In times of national crisis, when one place suffers, help comes from all directions, carrying forward the virtues of the Chinese nation. Now, our compatriots are enduring the pain of losing loved ones and homelessness.
Now, during the "disaster area reconstruction" phase, to prevent and avoid epidemics in the disaster area and to protect the health of disaster relief officers, armed police soldiers, firefighters, public security officers, and disaster area people, it is urgently necessary to establish several washing and disinfection stations: various types of washing machines, dryers, ironing tables, disinfection cabinets, and complete disinfection laundry points are needed. Each laundry point should have a daily washing and disinfection capacity of about 1000 kilograms. Disinfectant laundry powder, laundry liquid, and disinfectants are also needed in quantities. At least 12 such points are required to equip each affected county with one set.
Hereby, the Sichuan Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association calls on colleagues, comrades, and partners nationwide to extend our hands and dedicate our love to help disaster-affected compatriots overcome difficulties and share the government's burden! The Sichuan Laundry and Dyeing Industry Association will cooperate with the Sichuan provincial and municipal earthquake relief command centers and various disaster area relief command centers, under the leadership of the Provincial Department of Commerce, to properly handle donated equipment and cleaning and disinfection supplies from all regions.
