At 14:28 on May 12, 2008, a strong earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale struck Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, causing heavy losses and great destruction to the production and lives of the people in the disaster area. The Party Central Committee and the State Council, with Premier Wen Jiabao, rushed to the scene immediately after the disaster to guide the earthquake relief work.
The rise and fall of the nation is the responsibility of every citizen. In the face of this once-in-decades major disaster, the whole country launched a wave of earthquake relief and solidarity to overcome difficulties together. Major enterprises, institutions, and the public generously donated money and goods, delivering warmth to the disaster area as quickly as possible. Compaq Zhenlong Company was no exception, organizing disaster relief fundraising activities titled "Caring for Wenchuan, Blessing China" in its Weigongcun and Zhongguancun E-World work areas. Company leaders personally took the lead, and employees responded enthusiastically. Donations of 10 yuan, 50 yuan, 100 yuan, 200 yuan... each sum full of love was put into the donation boxes, conveying Zhenlong people's prayers for the disaster victims and support for the reconstruction efforts. The national unity and cohesion of the Chinese people in the face of great disaster were fully demonstrated.
