"With the best talents and technical support, we are sure to provide the highest level of laundry services for athletes from all countries," said Wang Shuyuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Commercial Federation and Director of the Laundry Professional Committee, on April 2.
At this time, the registration period for the "Laundry for Champions, My 2008 - National Laundry Service Elite Recruitment and Selection Campaign," hosted by the Laundry Committee of the China Commercial Federation and organized by Rongchang•Ilsa Laundry Group, is already halfway through, but enthusiasm for registration across the country remains high. On the same day, Director Wang Shuyuan personally received the registration form submitted by Han Chao from Nankai University.
"Laundry for Champions, My 2008 - National Laundry Service Elite Recruitment and Selection Campaign" is a nationwide initiative to select high-quality laundry service talents. The campaign is open to the whole society; anyone with excellent service skills, foreign language ability, and laundry technology can register to participate. The elites selected through multiple rounds will serve as a talent reserve for laundry services, providing service to athletes from various countries visiting Beijing from July 27 to September 20. According to the different skill characteristics of the "Laundry Champions," the Laundry Committee will assign them to factories or stores to carry out services.
According to the organizers, so far, more than a thousand people nationwide have registered for this event, with university students showing great enthusiasm. At universities such as Nankai University, Tianjin University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and Beijing University of Chemical Technology, students have responded strongly and participated actively. Han Chao from Nankai University said that after registering, he will seriously "prepare for the competition," cherish the opportunity to participate, and "strive to pass the selection rounds to enter the Olympic Village and contribute his strength to the Olympics." Statistics show that nearly 50% of the registrants are fresh graduates and current university students.
Regarding the reason for holding this event, the organizer's leader, Director Wang Shuyuan, believes: "The organization and service status of the Olympic Games is often seen as a reflection of national strength. The cleanliness of the athletes' and service personnel's clothing at the Olympic venues, to some extent, also represents the country's service image." He introduced that after inspections by more than a dozen committees and bureaus and months of comparison and selection, the local enterprise Rongchang•Ilsa Laundry Group has been approved to exclusively enter the competition venues to provide laundry services for global athletes, media reporters, and officials.
"Laundry service also requires a team," the organizer told reporters. A laundry service team is often composed of several professionals with different skills and specialties. Therefore, the organizer Rongchang•Ilsa Laundry Group will divide the assessment of applicants into two parts: when selecting smile service providers, judges will mainly evaluate participants' experience and specialties to judge their levels in English listening and speaking, guest reception, and mental agility; when selecting technical service providers, judges will choose contestants with outstanding abilities in stain removal, garment ironing, and garment cutting to enter the finals.
The final winners will receive training in Olympic basic knowledge, washing standards for various garments, laundry techniques at each stage, and on-site reception. Rongchang•Ilsa stated that after the service period from July 27 to September 20, these outstanding talents are welcome to stay and play important roles as key personnel in the company, direct stores, and franchise stores. Since Rongchang•Ilsa Laundry Group successfully joined the Beijing Volunteer Association as a group member last December, employees joining the company will proudly become part of Beijing city volunteers, contributing to Beijing's volunteer service cause.
Zhang Rongyao, Deputy Director of the Laundry Committee of the China Commercial Federation and General Manager of Rongchang•Ilsa Laundry Group, said that the significance of this event is not limited to the Olympics itself. "This selection not only ensures the level and quality of laundry services entering the competition venues but also serves as an opportunity to improve the skills and service quality of practitioners. This is not only an opportunity for each enterprise but also a chance for the laundry industry to accumulate international service experience. We regard this service as a major event for the industry, as such opportunities are very, very rare."
