A new profession has been added to the laundry and dyeing industry, the "Leather Care Specialist" has recently been approved.
The newly established profession "Leather Care Specialist" applied for by our committee to the state has been approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security after review, evaluation by relevant labor and capital experts, and a defense presentation by our committee on November 30, 2008.
The "Leather Care Specialist" refers to personnel professionally engaged in cleaning, maintenance, and repair of leather clothing, leather goods, leather shoes, and fur garments. Previously, leather garment care was included under the "Laundry Specialist" profession, which generally refers to personnel who clean and organize textile clothing. Since the fabrics used for textile clothing and leather clothing differ in nature, their cleaning and maintenance methods, materials, and tools are also different. Separating leather garment care from the "Laundry Specialist" to establish a new profession "Leather Care Specialist" is necessary to standardize industry development and to promote the standardization and specialization of leather care, which is also an inevitable trend of development.
Currently, several related tasks of our committee are also being prepared: 1) Establishing a leather care subordinate institution under the laundry and dyeing professional committee; 2) Compiling standards and training materials for the new occupation; 3) Setting up training institutions for "Leather Care Specialists".
